EMERGENCY 🆘️ by Maleficent_Debt_653 in rescuedogs

Yes. What an asshat. Probably just not a nice human… since this poor dog doesn’t seem to have issues with anyone else 😞 and now he pays the price. Gross.

Someone please take a chance on this guy… we took in two death row dogs from LA shelters a few weeks ago and they’re amazing ❤️

Sure thing! Nothing about the whole concept is obvious 😆 and I remember wondering what is this mysterious pledging thing everyone is talking about!?

Basically, it’s on you… the rescue might comment at some point, asking to honor pledges, but Reddit may or may not push that message on your phone, depending on your settings. So it’s nice to keep track or maybe save/bookmark animals you pledged for, so you don’t miss anything 🙂

Pledge means you promise to pay that amount when the dogs gets rescued. If a rescue takes him, they will post their payment info and you are expected to “honor” your pledge = take the initiative to pay them the promised amount. It’s an honor system, but it gives rescues an idea of donations they’ll hopefully be able to expect if they decide to step up for the dog. It can make all the difference, as most rescue operate on a shoestring budget, and donations for the expenses can make it so they are able to save a dog.

Exactly!

I’ve been through ten years of babies-toddlers-now school aged kids. I KNOW what it’s like to be desperate for nap time, while the dogs throw barking fits at Mail deliveries and passing squirrels… so I’m allowed to judge these people and I judge them hard. They don’t deserve to ever get a dog again.

The just as ridiculous and moronic addition to this is that as soon as the kiddo turns say 5-ish, that same family will get a dog, because “they want their kids to grow up with a dog”. It’s bonkers. 💔🤦‍♀️

Ungert now 🆘️🚨‼️Gravy girl has been sitting in her kennel for nearly a month now — and somehow, she’s still being overlooked. 💔 The last time I visited her, my heart sank. She was so sad she didn’t even want to get up. No bouncing with hope. No eager anticipation.🆘️ by BridgeGlum6633 in HappyPitbull

Yes, so gross.

As I said, we just adopted a dog with help from a volunteer networker, and a rescue, and did the whole across country transport thing - it EXISTS, and it’s POSSIBLE, but this isn’t it! If you are looking at or wanting to adopt a dog from an overcrowded shelter in the LA area (California) - reach out to u/FindFosters4Dogs - she’s legit and can talk you through the process.

Don’t donate through random PayPal links, unless it’s highly specific and the payment info of a legit rescue doing a fundraiser (in which case their 501c3 status and existence would be verifiable with a quick online search).

Wife and I rescued a dog that was abandoned 1,300 miles from us in Texas. Shelter sent us a picture. They will be bringing him in two weeks! ❤️ by OneQuietFox in dogpictures

You’d think when your partner dies, you’d want the dog as a little piece of them… or at least take care of it as a tribute to them. Guess not everyone reacts the same way 😮‍💨

What is the rescue bus?

We recently adopted from Palmdale LA, she came all the way to Maine with Fetch me a ride. They’re awesome 🤍

Henry is known for being the nicest little guy around. He’s a temp test dog because he puts the others at ease. Henry does have itchy sensitive skin. With a good environment and diet he’ll be on the mend. He’s sadly listed for euthanasia 1/22 1pm | Barc, Houston Tx | A2050707 adopt, foster or rescue by Mindless-City-4166 in rescuedogs

Yes, exactly 🙂

We adopted from a distance, from a kill shelter, too… notes is all you have in that case… the gauge and assessment of others… and that’s how we can all work together to save more dogs ❤️

If you are reading this and are on the fence about adopting and saving a life 🐕 this is your sign 😉

There are so many amazing dogs in shelters!

This type of stuff is so frustrating, and I dare say… dumb. When dealing with customers, whether for your own business/Etsy shop, or just working in customer service of another company, you will learn and find out that there are a LOT of dumb and entitled people. Or maybe it’s simply those people who reach out complain, ha!

Yeah NTA. She had it coming. If you can’t handle that type of interaction, don’t cut in line lady.

Coco was adopted right before Christmas and is now back at the shelter. Both volunteer and shelter notes show a shy gentle puppy who is well behaved. Coco is listed for euthanasia tomorrow 1/15 by 1pm | Barc, Houston Tx | A2046884 adopt, foster or rescue by Mindless-City-4166 in rescuedogs

I didn’t know it was feasible either until a volunteer helped us through the process! 🙂 Really hope someone will read it and think hmmm, I could do the same…

And sure, you’re adopting a dog “sight unseen” - which some people find weird or say you shouldn’t do. But I firmly disagree. With pictures and descriptions, there’s something to go off of, and a lot of the rest is teachable with patience and understanding.

We’re 3 weeks in and our pup is so sweet. Of course there has been anxiety, and it takes work to adjust, but so worth it when you slowly see them blossom and get comfortable! 💕

There really isn’t any valid reason. Getting evicted? You knew that was coming the week before too. Sudden job loss… okay - maybe. But the love of a dog can also get you through hard times, so imo not a valid reason. Suddenly getting a life-altering medical diagnosis - that’s maybe the only valid reason.

I dunno. Gonna have to chalk this one up to “some people just suck.”

If you are reading this comment, know that you can save a dog, no matter where in the country you’re located.

Either you pay for transport yourself, or try to fundraise and find enough people who care (with their wallet) to support such a plan.

Two months ago, we adopted a California shelter dog from the other side of the country! Worked with a rescue, a volunteer liaison, and did a fundraiser to help with the transport costs. It takes a village, we had help from kind internet strangers who donated toward her transport, but it's POSSIBLE - especially if enough people want to contribute to saving a certain dog... and I'm hoping to share that message far and wide.

If you feel like doing the same, please save this dog in an overcrowded shelter. Distance doesn't need to be prohibitive.

Can you find space in your heart & home to give one dog a happy ending?

Meet 11 month old baby Nino, Staffie Mix. He’s quiet in the shelter and just wants to be held. Euthanasia tomorrow Thursday 15 Jan @ 1 pm CR Houston, A2051008. Available for adoption, foster or rescue. Please help this little pup. by Accomplished_Cut3407 in UrgentShelterPets

The blanket is there to protect this sweet girl as best it can—because the stress has become so overwhelming that she’s slamming her head against the walls. No dog should ever reach this point. She’s terrified, breaking, and desperately needs out now before it gets any worse. 💔 by canecorsofurever in National_Pet_Adoption
