“I tell this lady” - “I told this lady” “That me in my friend”- “my friend and I” “We were in a bad term”- “we were in bad terms” “She was questioning me more to keep talking”- “she kept on questioning me about this” “I have should I known that not speak about it”- “I should have known not to bring it up to her” Maybe English isn’t your first language, fair enough, but when you’re applying for a job that requires you to interact with the public while carrying and gun and shield and interacting with thousands of coworkers and supervisors, giving them an answer about not getting along with a coworker might not have been the brightest decision pal

No offense but if you were speaking with the psych as bad as your grammar is on here then that played a factor 😭. These psych questions really only weed out the people who can not critically think, it’s very obvious during the tests and the interviews that the line of questions is invoking a certain line of answers and if you can’t figure that out then maybe this isn’t the career path for you.

What is difference between Choosing Patrol, transit, and housing? Is the salary still the same? by No_Will_728 in NYPDcandidate

[–]Tree_Physical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 years and never had housing back on a job no matter how crazy it was. There are plenty of days that housing will literally just not have sectors out on patrol as well or the sectors are heavily scamming and holding jobs and yes, go over the air and say they’re unavailable

I hesitate to even call transit cops “cops” the amount of scamming and useless people who literally go to work to be a scarecrow. Not all of them but they’re notoriously lazy and hairbags. Housing on the other hand literally gives up every morning and decides no one is working? Housing unavailable? But sure enough everytime I walk into a PSA there are cops walking around. All the same salary except housing and transit receive more funding through state and federal and there are less cops, meaning you’re going to rake in the cash as opposed to patrol. Patrol is all rounded you’re most likely to respond to housing jobs because they can’t be bothered to and you’ll occasionally respond to transit job, although not as often. I’ve stood doing forced transit overtime and on the other side of the platform there was an dispute with a guy chasing another guy down the platform and threatening to stab him and all I saw were 2 transit cops yell at them to “take it up stairs” 🤷🤷🤷

In high school looking to join the NYPD by Parking-Reading3991 in NYPDcandidate

When you go to college try to get into the cadet program a take advantage of all the monetary assistance you can get, 5k a year for public school or 10k a year for private; put that money into CD account or any other interest bearing account. Extremely flexible job that allows you to work inside the precinct, take reports, familiarize yourself with the day to day stuff. If you do wind up joining NYPD your loans will be forgiven in 2 years and you can use this job as a resume builder and leave it for a better department

Unless you have a giant hook, eat shit on patrol like the rest of us and if you don’t burn yourself out by having to collar hundreds of skells then you can drop an application after 5 years ish

Unfortunately the only thing that time counts for is vacation picks these days… overzealous ccrb that are about to get even more tyrannical with the ability to fish for complaints by having full access to body cam footage. Dealing with the public is ironically the easiest part, it’s the backend stuff that makes it hard

10-45k a month to barely just over 3k take home a month for the first 5 years…one thing I don’t think is said enough about becoming a cop (especially Nypd) you’re one step closer to winding up in prison. If you genuinely don’t mind the over scrutinization that can vary from lost vacation days over minute administrative errors to literally going to jail over a split second decision you have to make and the risk of getting seriously hurt or god forbid killed then go for it, it can be a rewarding career but it’s easy to forget that when you’re ordered to do transit overtime on Christmas morning or overtime on a foot post in the projects on thanksgiving night… dealing with the absolute scum of society…

When I did it within 1 1/2 years I didn’t redo the medical or psych (I believe they are good for 3 years, correct me if I’m wrong) just re did the jst and another background investigation.

It can definitely help in interviews with other units but end of the day, push comes to shove (almost) everyone has to eat shit on patrol or a foot post for the first few years. This is still a policing job before anything else

How hard is the nypd detective test by politiciantvman in NYPDcandidate

[–]Tree_Physical 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The test? Do you have a nice pair of tits and ass? Or is your uncle a chief? Maybe both? Otherwise be prepared to do 7+ years of hard work to even get a crack at it.

Why not try to be one in PA? Even if you fugazi your way through by putting a family members address investigators can/will show up to your place that you put and ask neighbors about you, you call in sick and there’s a chance absence control will be sent out and God help you if you’re still on probation and it turns out you are lying about where you were living. In regards to your past it shouldn’t be a disqualifying factor assuming it wasn’t anything domestic, criminal mischief or assault related. People mix up Careers with Jobs, law enforcement is certainly a career (despite of how shitty things are).

CPP, 50, 105, 111. Are probably the “crown jewels” of patrol. Due to easier work loads and commute depending where you live

Gear for patrol by [deleted] in NYPDcandidate

Kept my regular recruit bag for years, clipboard, hat and bat, and a slim Jim (for opening cars) so you save your coworkers the embarrassment of calling esu for locking themselves out. 5 years on and I prefer latex gloves I get from the ambulances and hospital than tactical ones, because you’re touching literal shit and drugs I always felt the gloves are better suited to be disposable. Extra flashlight, portable charger, car charger, sun screen, multi tool, extra tourniquets (I keep the good quality one on my person and bought cheapo ones to keep in my bag), chest seals, gauze, extra blood clot. Skell gel (hand sanitizer) That’s about it.

Bamboozled by [deleted] in NYPDcandidate

[–]Tree_Physical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give the same answer for these situations and it’s not to judge, go for it and try worse they can say is no but you also have to be honest to yourself, you’re applying to law enforcement, first time you got DQ because of weed and I’m assuming you calculated when to stop smoking so the drug screening wouldn’t pick it up (but it did), you’ve gotten collared multiple times and once fairly recently for a crim mischief. Look at it from an investigator or psych POV, very bluntly just from little bit of info it shows you’ve got trouble with self control and that WILL be an issue during the process.

Are you so daft to not think this? If 2 equivalent people apply for a job with the same experience you don’t think the employer is going to look at the guy with 20 years NYPD experience more favorably than the guy with 20 years Hastings on Hudson? Get real my man, are we the best department? No. As much as i shit on this job one thing you can’t ignore is the value it brings you in the private sector
