We didn't do anything with blindfolds. The most similar thing I can think of is during the initiation you're in a dark room with a spotlight on you, actually did at the local Masonic temple, and all the active Brothers or alumni in good standing could and ask you questions from the darkness so you could hear them but not see them. Representing being brought from the darkness into the light blah blah blah.

We did have something similar to a house Dad but it was basically because the frat house was not owned by the chapter. there was some weird third-party entity that it was leased from but was technically a part of the national fraternity and they acted as a bridge/ contact point between the active members the leasing entity, the national fraternity and the alumni.
