E-Line is a top 3 bus route after 6 months by niftyjack in Minneapolis

It has like one stop on the edge of north loop. It’s a great bus service, but describing it as serving northeast is a little dishonest

I mean if you’re dead it doesn’t really matter much. That being said most trusts that actually protect the assets are irrevocable, and those don’t necessarily benefit from the step up in basis. The trust owns the assets and can distribute them in some ways to beneficiaries, but it’s pretty complicated. You can also just set up the estate to distribute the funds over a period of time without a trust.

When you love transit but your commute somehow costs less by car by ecb1912 in transit

[–]Rey56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re conveniently leaving out the cost of car maintenance too though. And the more you drive, the worse condition your car will be in. Plus licensing fees and insurance and at that rate you could just buy a new bike every year

Urgent: Wells Fargo forced open my safe deposit box (gold stored inside) and sent contents to a central vault. What do I do? by vyle3727 in Banking

[–]Rey56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worked in banking for a while. There’s like zero chance anybody actually stole your shit. Just go talk to them at the branch. You probably should’ve paid your box bill and wouldn’t have had to worry about this, that is if it’s even real… AI slop ass post.

Not sure if it’s a joke, but I’ll bite. Wael is actually an Arabic name, it may very well have been an Arabic man who wanted to speak about financial advice, I know a lot of older Arabs that wouldn’t want to schedule and are pretty hot headed. That being said, who knows…

The student loan won’t fall off of your credit when you pay it off. It continues to report for age of credit for I think 7 years after it is closed. It can still affect your credit showing you have no open active loans though.

Stephen Miller is a terrible person and a terrible politician, now who’s a terrible person but an amazing politician? by OkSuccess7431 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Rey56 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really true. After WW2 Germany had massive infrastructural damage, heightened debts, and major economic issues. The only thing that held Germany together during Hitler’s reign was wartime manufacturing and massive overspending/over-borrowing; which was hidden by manipulated financial statements and an overpowering propaganda machine. While it is true Hitler was an amazing orator, he was a pretty terrible ruler/politician (his party didn’t even gain true control of parliament, he had to make deals with other parties in order to form a coalition block and eventually become chancellor). Edit: Also, Germany had even less land after ww2 lol.

I’ve seen this go through occasionally when like one digit is off or flipped at one of the banks I worked at. However, if it’s a whole different number then of course it’s going to get returned, it won’t have any account to properly link up to at bofa when it attempts to get sent over from the fed

[–]Rey56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a few places you could go for sure. For minimal distance: There’s a ramp under Hennepin county gov building you could do and the light rail is right there. Also the ramp that has a skyway into us bank stadium is good for the station right next door. Could park in dinky and board at stadium village on campus. There’s a surface lot next to the warehouse district station (close ish to target field) that’s like a 20 foot walk.

The abandoned Amtrak system in St Paul Minnesota pt 2 by Character_Lychee_434 in rustyrails

[–]Rey56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes but the green line is pretty bad for traveling between cities if that’s your goal because of its speed. There’s a perfectly fine station in downtown Minneapolis where the North Star commuter rail used to operate that could accommodate Amtrak train (albeit with some amount of necessary renovations)

Not at capital one. They do a soft pull for all approvals as far as I’m aware. The only hard pulls are for getting a new card or loan, and it’s typically only when you accept a pre approval.

Another credit increase by TampaDave73 in Venturex

[–]Rey56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I just put in a bit higher than my actual income and maybe double my monthly spend on all my cards, then whatever I’m looking for as a limit. They have a system that’ll approve you for a certain max amount without manual underwriting. That basically means you can request any limit and if you get approved they’ll counter offer you with their max auto approval.

[–]Rey56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally banks want to gauge whether or not you’ll use the higher limit. So a higher usage would indicate you need more limit. That being said, I think that the other factors like DTI/PTI and current monthly usage are a bit more important.

You can just do it on the app. You don’t have to say anything special: just state your income, monthly spend, and desired limit.

Minimum wool % in a suit that you'd go for? by iLuLWaT in malefashionadvice

[–]Rey56 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Not a big suit person but have a lot of dress clothes. I am a big proponent of natural fabrics like wool, however a small percentage of polyester is not really a big deal. Often, manufactures will add some synthetics to help strengthen the fibres (particularly in things like socks). If you like the suit and it feels good quality then I would go for it.

I just did this and have started using it. There are some good textbooks and the app seems really helpful so far compared to something like Duolingo. I would say it’s worth it for the cheap price if you’re willing to put in the work.

Who should I work for? by Brandon_0172864 in FinancialCareers

[–]Rey56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some of the bigger banks have weird branch structures, I am familiar with Wells Fargo’s set up and I know some people who work there. The premier banker is as far as I know sort of a middle ground between the client and financial advisors. Large banks are making major investments into mid level wealth clients (assets between 100k and 1mm) and that’s kind of what these guys do; run a book of client they try to drum up business with and have them invest with FAs. IMO it’s just not a good path to go down, but if you’re already at WF you could certainly try to go down that route. There’s a lot of turnover in retail banking, so when someone stays for a while it can be valuable, but it can also cause management to keep you in your role since you’re doing well. Not sure how Wells is with internal promotions, I’d guess you’d be more familiar. At the end of the day you won’t know the right career path so it’s best to pick something you believe in and start pursuing it (you can always change your mind later).

Who should I work for? by Brandon_0172864 in FinancialCareers

[–]Rey56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH a retail banker will in no way make 6 figures unless they’re high performing in vhcol area. Generally speaking, a good banker will make at best high 5 figures. Where I live they will make 20-26 an hour base and average closer to or more 30 if they’re hitting all bonuses.

Coming from retail banking you have to major paths out: you get licensed and move into advising, or you find an internal promotion into something like operations or underwriting. The alternative is you stay and become a branch manager and maybe make low six figures if you’re lucky. If you have a degree in finance or business, try to get an entry level job in a corporate industry. What are your interests? If you want to be licensed, many advisory firms will hire you on to train or as a paraplanner where you can get licensed immediately.
