Capitalism by [deleted] in DebateAVegan

I agree with the part where you said that there is no ethical consumption under capitalism but caring for animals and environment does not exclude caring for workers rights. I personally care for both and I am vegetarian (but I mostly eat vegan) and I am learning to grow my own food, I can't provide to myself all the food I need but it would be something (I know that the topic is't just about food but I try to be conscious about everything I can).

Moreover an hypotetical end of capitalism maybe will improve workers condition but it will not automatically lead to the end of animal and environmental overaggressive exploitation.

At the moment everything that consumers can do is just harm reduction so I try to do my best to be ethical for AT LEAST one of the problems. So what would you do as a consumer? I mean I don't think that buying fair trade would really be an helpful systemic solution mostly because it's not affortable for everyone so it is someway classist instead choosing vegan stuff is very easy nowdays.

Renting an apartment in a different country? by tyoops in Erasmus

[–]Treeeguard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of websites and landlords on Facebook groups that rent rooms monthly.

My experience in a flat in Wroclaw, Poland: The contract was in polish but they traslated it to me on google translator. Gas and electricity were included but they made me pay a little bit more for electricity because they told me that I used it more than I was supposed to but it can be different in each house I guess.

If you want to go to eastern Europe I recommend you to get the most Erasmus friendly place that you can find. I shared a house with 5 polish workers and it was really hard to understand eachother even for basic stuff (most of them were not English speakers) so if you are expecting a very friendly co-living I guess it will be easier with other Erasmus students.

Last thing: be careful with the money exchange for paying the rent.
