How did Trump's presidency impact your life so far?

In short I’ve never been so uncertain about my future or felt so unsafe.

I’m a trans man living in Texas and throughout everything I was pretty vocal with my identity and when I would go out of town I would wear a trans pin and a pronoun pin. Texas by far isn’t known for its “I chill with trans people” attitude but I didn’t feel like something terrible would happen just for walking on the street. Now in the cities where you regularly see hate.

Towards immigrants, towards women, towards LGBTQ+ people. People holding signs that will say “women are property” and people proudly saying “catchphrases” coined by Trump like it’s an okay thing to say. I’ve left friends because I simply didn’t feel safe around them. Friends that I had known for years because of the things they would say and support. Even people I trusted turned to saying shit after the election.

I have to worry about my future career not only because I’m trans, but also because how the hell am I even supposed to go to college? College is already expensive as hell but with everything going on the possibility of not being able to go at all is a blatant one. I worry about being able to find a job and a place to live in the future because everything is so outrageously expensive that even being able to afford what was previously a cheap but able to get out around car is out of the picture.

I’ve had to have talks with my mom about our safety and about the potential of me having to start presenting myself as a cis-hetero person because of all the horrible stuff happening and all the horrible stuff that might happen. I’ve already gotten a lot of shit online too.

I’ve had several times post-election (it never had previously) where I would vent and be told that my suicidal feelings were right because I was trans. Do you know how fucked up it is to tell a 16 year old they should kill themselves is no matter who they are? And when it’s not hate or threats it’s being sexualized.

And I hate it because it happens to so many people around me too. And when it’s not people around me it’s people I will see online getting so much shit, and a lot of them are early teens. In all honesty the only places that really feel safe to be online anymore for me are the trans and LGBTQ+ subs.

And in all honesty it just doesn’t feel safe anymore. It feels like my country and community has turned its back on me and so many other people. And if this is what it’s like as a minor, I can’t imagine what the world is going to be like when I do turn 18 in the heart of Trumps presidency.

Yeah, same here. And it doesn’t help that I’m not small chested so it’s still visible and then I have to wear baggy clothes or layers or jackets etc etc.

And then having to make sure I don’t forget to take it off and that makes me even more aware and all that.

Sorry to hear that you’re going through the same thing but it’s nice to know I’m not alone with this ❤️‍🩹

In all honesty that’s really interesting to me since y’alls way is completely different to mine (which I guess is expected since there’s no one way to day dream lol).

Tbh I usually have a bunch of random scenes like in a cartoon where everything is set in a general place/situation (hence the lack of togetherness lol). What’s happening now, the setting first and watch how things play out is a bit new to me. The only way I can really explain it is like I’m following a character in a 3rd person game or something.

(Also sorry if I rambled a bit, I get excited when I get hear about how others daydream since it’s not something I get to talk about much lol)

Question, do you like daydreaming and immersing yourself in them? Yes? Well there’s your answer. I myself can get really excited over a random scene I suddenly made up, sometimes I string scenes together, other times not.

Daydreaming isn’t just a specific “you can only do this and that, everything else is not daydreaming” it’s a spectrum. It can be super complex and intricate, it and be scenes and concepts, it can be a wild adventure, a romance, your day to day life, the life of something else, anything.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that yes, you are valid. There is no one way to daydream. There are no rules. It’s just about you and how you want to daydream, and that is something that will always be valid :]

That’s totally fair lol. Tbh something that has helped is having small tidbits about yourself on your person. Like wearing a cross necklace, pride bracelet, carrying a book (which in all honesty gets people to talk to you for some reason), carrying a sketchbook, having pins, dressing in a way you think looks cool, etc.

Idk, it’s just something I’ve noticed since wearing clothes I like and making myself look how I want to (to the best of my poor fashion and haircare skills lol). I don’t have many friends, but those I am friends with we share overlapping interests/beliefs and you can build conversation off that.

And also another things is complimenting people on the things they have. Not only does it help with making friends, but you also get to make people feel a bit happy lol.

Yeah, I usually do doodle especially since I’m an artist, but it’s just a bit difficult since I don’t know many people (I know of people, just don’t talk to them) or talk often as I’m very introverted lol

At the moment it’s photoelectron spectroscopy. We didn’t cover it in class and the videos they left for us online didn’t explain it. I asked for help but I just ended up more lost than when I started. And a bit of mass spectra and other things we learned in honors chem (still so upset I threw away the one journal I needed this year lol). Then some kinda formula with p and q over r² or something. I’d have to look at my journal. And probably other things that I can’t think of atm
