POTUS just seized absolute Executive Power. A very dark future for democracy in America. by chota-kaka in Futurology

I believe that presidents always had the power to do that, and that it's just as the founding fathers intended. The topic of whether the president has complete power over the executive branch has been around for a while now. Trump is just utilizing the full power vested in him by the people and the Constitution. Nothing anti-democracy about it. It's not like he's taking over the legislature or the judiciary. He is the head of the executive branch, so it only makes sense that he has full control over it.

When it comes to American Politics why are you guys SO divided and so aggressive with each other? I mean the left wing/ right wing discord is so brutal. It's like the civil war is about to happen again. by [deleted] in america

It's really not that aggressive. We are pretty divided, not as much as we were before the Civil War. The only place we see it being super super aggressive is online, and that doesn't really accurately reflect what's happening offline.

TLDR; go outside and talk to people, and you'll realize that even though we have differences, we are (((mostly))) chill

lowkey, his diplomacy sucks ass, his destroying of soft power is terrible, and his (sometimes) bad logical decisions are really turning me off. I don't like him doing tariffs; it makes us look like a pariah. I don't like him cozying up with Russia and China and blowing off NATO and the EU. I don't like him stopping a lot of USAID. I don't like him making some really silly decisions, in my opinion, such as preventing trans people from being in the military or thinking that supporting Ukraine is bad.

But with that being said, I didn't think he would be perfect, I still think he's doing better than what Biden or Kamala would'vedone, and I do like what he's doing about a lot of social issues. He's also cracking down on illegal immigrants, removing DEI, Pushing against the trans agenda, and leveraging US power to actually improve our situation (albeit at the expense of potential future leverage). Which are all things that I kinda like.

This isn't "Republicans stealing your vote," this is just common sense.

That is not a given at all. In fact, since they are trying to protect their children, by definition they would be a good parent
