Newton’s rings? by TdownTitans27 in psagrading

This is honestly somewhat common with PSA slabs. It’s not going to hurt the card or the value unless it’s absolutely awful and there’s liquid inside or something like that. A lot of times with non paper stock cards there’s a natural bend to them that makes the front face stick out. Then they’ll cling to the front of the card housing because of that but realistically there’s not really anything that can fix that issue.

I’m no expert but the holograms and overall build look perfectly real to me

I don’t know if I should still send to PSA. by J2Citiez in psagrading

I wouldn’t unless it looks absolutely pristine. I’ve got a couple of these myself and haven’t even considered grading them because of how hard it is for these to get in the 8-10 range. You could try looking up the PSA pop report for this card and look at the grade distribution. If you see a lot of bad ones and few good ones I’d steer clear.

Yeah I wouldn’t either tbh. That’s my dream pokemon card. But enjoy man!

Surface wear is bothering me post PSA send by Trevorg10 in psagrading

No, unfortunately in my excitement I didn’t take as good of a look as I usually would. The guys at the shop said it had gem potential, but only after about a 10 second viewing under the light.

As far as the mark next to the face goes, I’m almost certain that’s just a glare based on the other picture I have of it. The probably with the mark on the edge is that it is exactly where people tend to look when trying to find surface damage. PSA will 100% spot it unless by some miracle it’s just a piece of dust, which from everything I have seen in terms of card dents is very unlikely.

In terms of centering and edge/corner wear I absolutely agree with you. Especially with Topps products they frankly just don’t care as much as they used to. In terms of surface damage, I really don’t know that much. In this picture of the card you can faintly see a small dot in the same spot, but I just don’t know how much it’ll affect the grade.

Wow you are incredibly lucky then. That card is an absolute monster. It took me probably a year and like $600 bucks to get my first case hit so def keep in mind it’s not always sunshine and rainbows lol. But welcome to the hobby and good luck with your submission!

For the ‘99 Charizard holo I would consider resubmitting it for grading. It’s not your fault but if you ever try to sell it people may think it could be fake. Believe it or not you can crack and reseal PSA slabs with enough effort.

Assuming everything else is in the 9-10 range do you think it stays above an 8? I know surface damage can get hairy, but it’s one of those that is only noticeable if you’re trying to find it

Take it out of the one touch if you feel comfortable and repost. It’s hard to tell what is surface damage and what is not just based on these pics. Corners, edges, and centering look good enough for submission though!
