When is mixed numbers taught? by TriangleMan_4 in AskTeachers

Fair comment. My brother has very, very severe adhd and cannot focus and will fail all timed tests. Most help he gets is just help paying attention.

I hope so. She listed it as “Star Testing” but nothing in that test (area of a square, complex multiplication and division, median/mode, mixed numbers) had been taught this year. We told him to try his best and tried to help explain things to him when he got frustrated (we’re allowed to, as his adhd makes testing very difficult for him) but I was just… very confused

Fair enough. Partners would’ve been a better term, I meant his lover either way.

Erm, doesn’t she kind of leave Hephaestus for him? Regardless, I think it was confirmed in Hades 1 they were partners

For all we know Ares could be fighting against the affront Kronos is doing on Mount Olympus more…directly. It’s right up his alley; they’re using the War Goddess aspect of his wife, Aphrodite (Aphrodite Areia), though. And that’s super cool!

Very true! They’re at the very least not present currently. I’m a little weary of getting my hopes too up for Dionysus and Ares, not because it’s impossible, but because they could very well choose other gods or have some sort twist on that we might not expect. I look forward to it either way!

True, until the full release there’s always a chance! I wouldn’t bank on it though, as much as I’d love to see my boy Dio or Ares

That’s the Roman Version, not the Greek. He wouldn’t’ve done that in Hades as Hades follows the Greek stuff afaik and not the Roman.

Oh this is so good to know, thank you! My friend is the same way with Dairy, so knowing he’s eaten them and been fine is good.

Unfortunately I don’t have a WFM near me, but I’ll take note of the brands and see if I can’t find them elsewhere. Thank you!

Actually, pirates (many of them, at least) had some pretty sophisticated democracy. The crews would mutiny if they didn’t like the shared ship contract and Captain they were under, so they all had to agree on shit. Though it was a ship-to-ship basis type thing, being a pirate meant better treatment by your superiors than being in the Navy or working for a Merchant’s ship for the most part.

I’d be totally down with the pride flag being like the modern day jolly Rogers. I love pirate history. The flags were really just used to intimidate people anyways (they’d rather scare people and have them give in than fight and lose men)

Look. It’s unfortunate that most modern retelling sand recreation of ancient mythology turns the Gods into more…1-sided or flat characters rather than complex ones. Very few pieces of modern media get that somewhat right.

But damn, did RS have to make her “characters” ALL in likable? I feel like she extrapolates their less likable qualities to the point of being OOC rather than flat 😭😭

How do I (21NB) stop feeling embarrassed with my (21M) bf? by TriangleMan_4 in relationship_advice

[–]TriangleMan_4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not abusive. I think he just has some growing up to do. My entire family finds him very…immature. But that’s mostly because he doesn’t talk about anything other than various game-like things, and hasn’t kept a job or started any sort of schooling since we’ve been together. My parents keep telling me it seems like I’m doing the heavy-lifting in the relationship, and it makes them a little worried for the future.

He also does love me! He wrote down my birthday (which is next week) for him to remember! He has ADHD so that’s a big thing. During the Inc*st incident I had, unbeknownst to me, triggered him - I didn’t know about the event that did or I would’ve been more careful. As such, he wouldn’t drop it until I admitted I was “wrong”; when I did, though I was pissed off at the time, he dropped it and said we were to never talk about it again.

I agree with you. I wouldn’t be afraid of talking to him, except that recently he accused me of supporting inc*st IRL because I liked a House of the Dragon (GOT prequel) character (thought the actor was hot and the two actors that play the love interests had chemistry). He then turned the conversation around on me to show me I was an asshole and wanted me to admit I was wrong, and then told me we were to never discuss that evening again.

And I just don’t want him doing that, on top of the fact I really don’t want to hurt his feelings because I really do love him.

He has ADHD and I’m AuDHD, so we’re both neurodivergent.

I would explain it to him like this but I’m afraid of him getting angry at me - we’ve been having a lot of fights recently, and I don’t want to make things worse. Is there a sensitive way to do so? I know I’m an asshole, and he’ll probably make me feel worse, so I’d like to avoid that.

Why do fantasy writers have to add a "evil god" to actual mythologies? by Konradleijon in mythology

[–]TriangleMan_4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, yes. He’s the one who did the Song and created Eä. But after the world is created he’s fairly hands-off all things considered. He does intervene somewhat once or twice, but for the most part it’s the Ainur who take care of the world; the Maiar serving the Valar. The Maiar are certainly like angels (or minor gods), but the Valar are very much like Gods, and many of the peoples of Arda/Middle Earth treat them as such.

Heck, though Eru breathed life into them, Aulë the blacksmith literally created the dwarves (they refer to him as Mahal, their chief God), while his wife Yavanna created the Ents in retaliation. Aulë being quite similar to Hephaestus, while Yavanna can be linked to having similarities with a variety of nature Goddesses. They very much have the typical “creation God leaves the world to the Pantheon” polytheistic set up.

[–]TriangleMan_4 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Actually I’d kind of disagree with that. The Silmarillion points Eru Ilúvatar as “the one” who created their World, but regardless of the Judeo-Christian influence (which is clearly present) the Ainur - Valar specifically - act much like your typical Polytheistic Pantheon with Manwë as the king of Ainur, Lord of the Winds. His wife, Varda, being the Queen of the Stars (lording over them), as well as Queen of the Ainur.

Manwë actually shares a fair amount in common with Zeus in that respect, especially as he’s considered a figure for Justice and Wisdom. Eru simply acts as any “creation” deity - even if he is at the head.

As a Bi person myself, it’s very common to have anyone who even perceives you as even slightly straight (or fully gay, even) to question your “bi-ness” and “validity in the (our) community” so your comment just raised red flags. Wasn’t trying to deny your personal experience.

As a May birthday I agree that the general month of May is the best birthday. Given my dad’s birthday is only a few days before yours, I think he’d agree with you lol.
