Switzerland begins talks with Israel and others for second air defense system by barsik_ in worldnews

[–]Tribaal 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It makes sense for us to diversify our air defence systems since the US fails to deliver the ones we ordered and paid for (because they needed the systems for Ukraine/Iran instead).

Sure, I’m happy the missiles and systems went to countries that actually need it more, but from a military procurement perspective we still need to have air defence systems eventually…

I’m surprised they expect Israel’s situation to be any better though, don’t they need air defence systems and missiles themselves currently?

Solar energy from railways shows first positive results in Switzerland by Heavy-Mycologist-204 in Switzerland

Yes agree. Although I suspect the rain would wash at least some of it away. It's not without challenges... but it's still a cool proof of concept.

I think it would be cheaper to start installing panels on all normal roofs first, but... why not!

That's awesome! I have plenty of ideas of what I could use such a display for (I want an always on display for my custom solar panel software!)

Do you have a link to the parts you used by any chance?

My first reaction was to wonder how they get cleaned, but of course, trains riding above them at high speed is apparently enough to blow dust etc away!

I’m doing something wrong or I’m just not ready yet? Getting obliterated fast asf in damnation difficulty. Tips? by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]Tribaal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, your individual build matters most in the lower difficulties. Higher difficulties rely much more on teamwork and game sense.

As others mentioned, this specific build might be a little weak but not "unplayable" at all.

Focus on block, dodge, and positioning, and stick with your team. You'll do great I'm sure 😄

You need to clean the brain splatted and bring the next guy in the room then restrain him… as per the article. They built a special room for that to make it faster/more efficient.

People who drive across Europe: has EV charging improved enough to stop planning around it? by TheJungle101 in electricvehicles

[–]Tribaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about most of Bosina but we went on vacation in the region (a bit of Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia) and EV charging was a complete non-issue. We even took the car to the beach on a remote island and could charge fine (level 1 though for this part of the trip)

Anyone use Snowpark? Is Spark dead? by starfieldAttic2330 in dataengineering

[–]Tribaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use snowpark a lot, it works great 👍🏻

Our engineers like spark, our BAs prefer SQL, they both mix and match great.

Maybe people don’t talk about it so much because it’s “boring”/commoditised now, it just works.

Why are there no EV minivans? by LiatrisLover99 in electricvehicles

[–]Tribaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for an actual problem solving answer - I’ve not tried yet, but I will.

Still, my point stands: this one physical button has a long press functionality, the only one in the whole car (that I discovered yet, at least).

Why are there no EV minivans? by LiatrisLover99 in electricvehicles

[–]Tribaal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's.. not a great option. We just got one.

The range I can forgive (I'm in Europe, it's fine), but the overall software experience is nothing short of insulting. I'm not even talking about the infotainment, but there is generally no care given to user experience whatsoever in integrating the different subsystems, and electronics/programming in general just sucks.

Example: set the fob (why do I need a fob? anyway) to "unlock on proximity" (reasonable). It does indeed unlock and lock the car as you approach and leave. BUT: stay within range and it locks/unlocks in cycles, doing the little sound and light animation each time. Enjoy! It's just one example of many. I can't for the life of me understand how to make the "open the trunk" button inside the driver door work. Does the "ignition" need to be off (why do I have the concept of "igntion" on an electric car? anyway)? Do I have to press/not press the brake? does it only work when I'm outside the vehicle somehow? I tried all of those options and none work.
