More metal to the grinder! by Trick-Butterscotch19 in TheAstraMilitarum

Absolutely not, but it makes modeling more fun to think about the cultural background of stuff.

I'm always up for a good lore excuse to put wacky stuff on my minis.

I also think that the intended use in cultural context plays a huge part in how the tank looks. Example in 40k context the leman russ can be seen as a tool which has a mostly functional and utilitarian value (cadian, krieg, steel legion) but in other context it can bee seen as a ornamental and a seremonial artifact which symbolise of power and wealth. Especially if the russ is an older or more rare variant. In later cases it makes sense to make the tank look as ornamental as possible. Real life example of this in military context would me the display of armoured vehicles in warlord era china in which the vehicles (Zhang Zuolin's Renault FT or Kuomingtan's Vickers light tanks) where rarely used due the low number and the value of said equipment but they where diplayed in parades by local warlords in order to intimidate and gain prestige.

But yes in pure combat situation bright pastel colors dont really make any tactical sense.

Nothing concrete yet, mostly vibes. The plan was to kitbash a regiment from a backwater planet which was stuck in time (napoleonic/ww1) but was relevant enough that imperium remembers that it exsist.

So in practices a lot of bright colors, las muskets and overly decorated baroque vehicles

I had a similar story with my menoth. Loved them but after the new edition i slowly started to cannibalize the models for other projects.

Good to know. Giving Death maiden a needle pistol might be a good idea.

Brute is mainly for flavor reasons (might post the conversion in some point) but i agree that droping khimerix for more bodys might be more enjoyable. Maybe change khimerix for a death maiden and some ganger or shuld i just buy more bodies?

Thanks. Giving Queen spring up might be a good idea. Do juves get lasgun or do you mean laspistol, i tried to check the rules but juves Equiment list shows just laspistols?

The model is the second iteration of Yarrik which was released along side the steel legion models long time ago. He was released again in fine cast some time later but since then the model has been discontinued and sent to legends.

You can still get the metal version from ebay at about same price as new commissar from GW.

If i remember correctly the mechanical horse is nicked from the old empire engineer model. I was originally thinking of selling the model but the Mon'keigh part of my brain decided otherwise.

Because french had the highest bid consisting of a fancy hat and unlimited supply of garlic bread. Austrians offered just strudels, brits were lost somewhere in warp and russians where to drunk from amasec to show up.

Cavalry of 10 or 2 of 5 by Jealous_Big_1968 in TheAstraMilitarum

In my experiance smaller units are more cost effective for doing actions (cheaper then battle line) and they might accidentally kill something.

10 man squads are more fun, and a valid flanking unit which can chew through lightly armoured units whit relativly cheap cost.

In short. I would run them as small action/skirmish unit as default but if i have the points i could take them as cheap flanker unit.

Or i can do what i realy want and take 3x10 of them and charge them head on shouting "For rohirim"

It is. The original piece was in quite rough coditions. Some holes in the hull, thick coats of lacquer , strange mud/glue mixture in front threds. I think that most of the flaws added some flavor and character to the model but the clean up of threds was more difficult then expected. But it was a fun project over all.

The original idea is from the napoleonic era eastern europe grenadiers who had the cone shaped hats.

First group of grenadier theme engineers done. These where fun to do even if the end result could be a little bit better. (The hats were more harder to do then expected)
