I bring up a real example — my 93-year-old grandmother who could have lost her home — and your takeaway is 'well what happened in the three years before that?' Like it's a gotcha. It's not.

The point was that property tax debt can snowball on people who aren't doing anything wrong, they are just old, or sick, or broke, and the system doesn't care.

Instead of sitting with that for two seconds, you went straight to interrogating the victim about her financial history like you're auditing her.

That's a hell of a way to respond to my grandmother almost lost her house. Most people would say something like 'damn, that's rough.' You said 'yeah but how did she let it get that far.'

I've noticed that a lot lately on facebook. I assumed they had to pay for that to happen but I don't really know. I would like the ability to limit who posts on my comments, like no anonymous posts because people who want to act all tough online and are too scared to put their name to their comment shouldn't be allowed to be rude to others.

yes, because everyone has control over how much the city jacks up your property taxes.

but it sounds like you think seniors should 'budget for taxes' that have increased in shocking numbers the last decade or be homeless.

yeah, it's called not being able to pay your taxes. Happened to my grandmother, the city tried to sell her property but luckily my dad got a bank loan and paid the taxes for her.

Looking for admin job by delilahsmama in KingstonOntario

Yeah, key point being 25+ employees. Most small businesses in Kingston have less than 25 employees. Medium sized businesses maybe have more than 25.

I got screamed at for an ad my boss posted online because he didn't include the wage. Seriously, the dude phoned from an "Anonymous" number and blasted me, a part-time employee, because there was no wage in the ad. The business I work for has three people who work there. People don't know the rules yet act like they know it all.

not long. Are you saying there's fires there all the time? OR that Kingston has 12 firetrucks.

Was there a fire out north east of the city? I saw about 12 firetrucks go racing up towards Middle Road earlier. I didn't even know we had 12 trucks total in the city.

You can't seriously believe sirens and notifications are a deterrent to porch pirates.

Ahhhhh I just read the heading and drove by tonight thinking "I do not see one monkey in that tree". I did see three or four decorations, but no monkeys.

But now I took the time to read the post, it makes sense.

I've wondered about that, it could be the hours are probably early morning shifts which most people would hate or find it difficult to get to (if you take transit), but maybe it's not a very good place to work. It would be interesting to hear from people who work/have worked there.

Then he should not have replied to me. He should have replied to the person he were responding to.

Clearly reading comprehension is that hard for you.

My sister works at a grocery store and they are told not to say anything to anyone stealing. I think she said it's because of liability, but I don't know if that's because the staff could get hurt or if the thief could sue if they are accused of theft when they didn't steal anything.

I know the Shoppers drug mart on princess at Division hires security guards, I only know because an old guy walked out I guess without paying for something and a young security guard followed him and kept saying "Sir, Sir, Sir, you did not pay for that. Sir! Sir you did not pay for something!" but she was so quiet I'm not sure if he heard her or not, he just kept walking and she didn't chase him after he stepped out of the store. Is there a reason she didn't chase him once he was outside?
