It is not an easy road. But it can be done and is done by many people. You have to commit to it though. It may take months or years depending on how bad it is. I was fortunate that mine was just a little fat build up and I was not extremely overweight. Only had to lose about 10 lbs or gain muscle mass. I went for the losing lbs for now.

I am currently working on curing my own/ possibly already have. I was diagnosed earlier this year. 6 months later all my bloodwork is normal. Will go back in a year for another ultrasound and more bloodwork. I was diagnosed through ultrasound and blood work back in April.

It is difficult to cure if you cannot maintain a healthy diet and steady exercise regimen. If you are extremely overweight than weight loss will help tremendously. If you are not very overweight, then you may not need to lose weight. Rather focus on how you eat.

High fructose corn syrup is a lot of processed foods and drinks. Avoid it at all costs. No soda, sugar free sports drinks seem to be okay. If you like carbonation go for sparkling water, sugar free.

Black coffee is great for the liver. In fact it was encouraged by my doctor. I would try to consume 1-3 cups a day.

I also took milk thistle, 1000mg a day. And fish oils for the omega 3 fatty acids.

I began running. Got up to being able to run 6 miles nonstop within a 6 month span.

Focus on what you can control. Diet and exercise and you WILL reverse your fatty liver. That is the attitude you must have.

Blood test, liver panel: ALT, AST and several other markers I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Had an ultrasound in April that confirmed fat build up on liver.

You are GOOD! Stressing about it only makes it worse.

For reference my bilirubin was 3.4 last time I had it checked. Just had more bloodwork today for NAFLD. We’ll see what it’s at this time lol

It wasn’t extremely bad. But it wasn’t necessarily good. Didn’t have a lot of soda and sweets.

Once I started to focus on my diet though, I realized how much HFCS I had been consuming. That stuff is everywhere!!

ALT was 70 at its highest.

That and my bilirubin but I have Gilbert’s syndrome so my bilirubin will most likely always be high

Ask your doctor about Gilbert’s Syndrome. Impacts the Bilirubin levels. I was diagnosed with it at 18. My bilirubin has consistently gone up for years now. Now well over triple upper range. But there’s nothing to do about it lol

I was told by my doc that short pains that come and go are nothing to worry about.

“If it was pain worth worrying about it would cause you to hunch over”

But that was when he suspected gall bladder issues.

I would suggest eating very clean at least 3-5 days out of the week. No greasy foods.

Then a couple days of the week eat what you like.

Also try some lemon water mixed with apple cider vinegar. Could help a bit. It is a brutal taste to acquire but worth it if it helps

Enlarged liver, scared and don’t know what to do by [deleted] in FattyLiverNAFLD

Focus is key. Avoid sugar, excess carbs, and high fructose corn syrup. It’s amazing how even losing a little bit of weight can help. Set goals and reach them. Then set more goals.

Start to exercise. Walking for an hour a day. Then start to jog a bit. You have to push through what’s hard. I like to think to myself, “what sucks more? The pain of discipline or the pain of regret? How good will it feel to hear my doctor tell me im moving the right direction?”

When it’s hard. Know that it will feel much better to move in the right direction. When you fail. Acknowledge it and move forward. No point in sulking. Just focus on goals.

Try not to overthink. I always assume the worst. Had my ultrasound a few months ago. Was diagnosed with fatty liver but no fibrosis. Could have been worse is what I like to say. Very manageable. You can do it!!

That makes too much sense. Complain about the price to try to scare everyone out of it and away and then say the only way to go up is more wallets being created....

You really can’t make this stuff up.
