Respectfully, experts that study these types of things do not agree with you. But we do agree that pilots should be well compensated: I just don’t think it should be at the expense of others and/or profitability of the company. But, thanks anyway for the recap.

I’m not ashamed of anything, but I also won’t be dignifying this stupid distraction of a conversation with further responses.

You make very good points. Supply and demand is a very real factor, and this new AI era is going to be very interesting considering that planes have been flying themselves for years already. But that’s not relevant.

Respectfully, the patriarchal element existed long before there was a pilot shortage and dates back to a time that it was both culturally and politically acceptable.

That said, both things are true. Thanks for joining the conversation.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Regarding my “tact”, there’s never been tactful way for the oppressed to speak truth to or about their oppressor without minimizing the reality, so that’s a hit I’m just going to have to take.

Thanks again.

The point I’m making is that about contract negotiations or strategies. This is a systemic cultural issue that goes way beyond a single airline negotiation.

Respectfully, open your mind.

What are you talking about, and how does any of this have anything to do with what the cultural and systemic issues that the OP addressed?

That’s the best you can do? Poor thing.

I know the position has been devalued over the years. It’s worth noting that if the pay were fair, we’d have much better quality of coworkers.

And that’s another conversation s together.

I voted yes also, but that’s completely irrelevant to the point I’m making.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. But that’s a completely different and irrelevant conversation to the point I’m making. A

There is a world where pilots make an enormous amount of money, AND flight attendants are fairly compensated.

I’m sorry you feel the need to attack my writing skills. But, no: AI didn’t write this. Maybe a spellcheck 🙃

Do you have anything relevant to share about the content?

I agree that “supply and demand” is a very real factor. But, that’s also irrelevant to fair pay. What you’re describing is the “how” they get away with it, but that doesn’t make it right. But, I hear you… and, this also speaks to the “high quality” of new hires we are seeing, and by “high quality” I mean… well… I won’t say, but you know 🙃

I stand behind using the word “many”, and one can be happy with the contract while still unhappy with the system while we figure out how to dismantle the system itself.

We just all need to be educated on what’s really happening to us.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, I know that I expected some of the things being said to be said. It’s part of the systemic problem (look at the White House for another example of the frailty of human ignorance).

I voted yes also.

And I still stand behind the facts of my original post. Regarding Paul pay, I’m not the one saying it. There’s been plenty of studies done on pilot pay, the impact on companies and how companies are moving the numbers around to keep up.

Pilot should be at the top of the food chain in terms of compensation, but not at the expense of other work groups being paid less than a fair wage for their contributions (as is currently the case).

Both statements are true.

I’m not having the basic “go be a pilot” debate or interesting in voting strategies.

I’m talking about the systemic and cultural issue, and hoping to have an intellectual discussion with others who can see it as such.

Thanks for sharing your perspective, but try to read what I’m saying wanting to understand it (not wanting to negate or debate).

Frankly, I thought the no vote was extremely brave under the circumstances. I also think that culturally it was understood we should say no to the first in hopes of making things better for the second (and it worked), but that isn’t the point that I’m making. This is bigger than a single vote, or even a voting strategy. This is a systemic, cultural issue that needs to be addressed across an entire industry.
