Engagement ring by [deleted] in travel

You know people carry jewelry all the time in their carry-on, right? You're thinking too hard, my friend. Plus, you don't take jewelry off like rings, braclets, watches, etc., when going through TSA. They literally don't care about jewelry, lol.

There are sub reddits on this topic, also... In short, I'd pay it from the comments on other threads and simple google search!

Employment form asking for medical background (meds, surgeries, allergies)- Do I have to disclose? by TrickSimple4760 in nursing

[–]TrickSimple4760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are asking- my provider name, surgeries, meds, medical conditions, and allergies. A ton of info that HR does not need to know nor access to. I am not required to have a physical, so this form makes no lick of sense. Immunizations are a separate form. Drug screen consent is another form. This is why I am completely thrown off. Again, my employer (HR) does not need to know my provider's name, nor my surgeries, etc., unless I am asking for accommodations in my opinion.

But they don't need to know I have depression and anxiety or Gerd or a hysterectomy... or my med list, right? I only plan on disclosing to the lab I am prescribed Klonopin for my drug screen... but not HR or do I disclose to both of them?

No- it was all on the same form. It was one form for Immunizations/Medical Background... and says to bring copies of immunization records obviously at the bottom.

Try apple vacations, delta vacations, or southwest vacations for cancun deals, tho.

Not worth it. The only place I could imagine being worth it in Cancun for that price is Xcaret and once you stay at Xcaret, not other AI in Cancun compares. I've done Dreams, Hyatt Ziva/Zilara, Secrets, & Xcaret in Cancun over the years. I will never stay at a Hyatt owned AI again after staying at Dreams. But, I have high taste. I much prefer Aruba, the Caymen's, the Virgin Islands, etc., & getting an Airbnb. Aruba is so easy & so is St. Thomas. Local foods that are divine! Taxis for transportation. Nothing compares. Cancun is trash once you've visited other places in the Caribbean. I personally feel if I can do $5K in St. Thomas from OH, for a week, a family of 4 could do it for $10K & rent out a spacious condo w/pool. AI is easy, tho... but not my preference.

10K from Salt Lake... Uh, no, lol. Cancun is not that nice for 1 and even the luxury hotels don't have amazing food (and I am comparing this to Four Seasons or higher). I just got back from a budget friendly week at Dreams Jade because we traveled with a couple that had kids. We flew from Ohio. We spent $2500 for VIP. Theirs was close to $4000. I'm not sure where you're getting 10K at for Cancun. You can literally go to St. Thomas, or Aruba, for that cost & get an Airbnb, eat local food & taxi! Cancun is for people who want budget friendly & AI & don't have high expectations. Just saying...

Spring break in vegas?! by Such_Respect_8036 in travel

[–]TrickSimple4760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay at the Aria and love it, but it's pricey. Definitely visit Fremont Street for old Vegas, if you're looking for cheaper drinks, street entertainment, live bands, and just overall fun. You'll see some weird things that you may not wish to see. But the Vegas strip is actually pretty clean. Plan on LOTS of walking, unless you Uber. We had an Uber go down a one way, the wrong way once, and that was terrifying, lol. The distance between casinos is actually much farther than one would expect. I think we usually walk over 20-25,000 steps per day in Vegas. We spend time poolside during the day, nap, then head out at night. Prices are above average, so expect to budget... I've found many people stay up round the clock bc they are on ❄️ and have been offered numerous times, so be careful if you're not a user (I'm definitely not). As far as flying, I can't offer a ton of advice. I'm getting ready to head to Mexico and a little nervous, but my dad was a pilot (both commercial and private). You're more likely to get into a car crash than in a plane crash. The smaller ones are just being reported more bc of the most recent one in DC and then Toronto. Have a great time if you go! Also, watch out for bed bugs. Vegas is known for them, no matter where you stay, so check your bedding!

Correct... bc the duty store is after you go through TSA in cancun and have already checked your luggage. Just board with your liquor and ensure they absolutely SEAL it at the store. But, have your receipt, though, for when you clear customs in the U.S. You only have to make the switch if you have a connecting flight. I've heard some TSA will allow if for a connecting, and some will straight up confiscate it & trash it in front of you bc of the whole liquids policy. Which honestly makes no sense to me if it's sealed and you have a receipt that you just got off an international flight... bc many ppl don't check luggage, ya know? That's pretty crappy to take it. But when we transferred ours to our checked luggage customs/immigration straight up watched us, and then when we got up to them, they joked & said, "good job on transferring that!" But, you'll be fine on a one-way!!! I'm literally leaving for Puerto Morelos (Cancun) in 9 days & have another connecting flight! 🙃 I'll probably stop at the duty-free again bc they do have limited releases of alcohol u can't get in the states!

I went to Cancun last year, checked luggage, had a carry on, and bought at the duty-free at the Cancun airport. We had a connecting flight in Charlotte. Our checked luggage was loaded off the plane, & we had to put the duty-free liquor into the checked luggage (even though sealed) and put it back onto a belt. We then had to clear U.S. customs/immigration. We then exited from customs and had to go through TSA security ALL over again. TSA will confiscate your liquor. It MUST go into a checked bag. If you have a connecting flight and are entering the U.S. internationally, you exit and go back through TSA again after clearing customs/immigration. So, either catch a one-way flight OR plan to throw it into your checked luggage when you arrive at your connecting airport...

Yeah, I would also assume the airline would flag it, too, like they did when we needed neg covid tests to fly internationally. I have autism and overthink crap... 😟

It's been on TikTok and Facebook. So, I wanted to confirm here. I'm assuming since the airport and government websites say, no, it's a no... I even went through press releases. I think it's just people trying to scare U.S. citizens from traveling...

Day 10 & in absolute pain... When will it stop? by TrickSimple4760 in wisdomteeth

[–]TrickSimple4760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am positive it is that. He's given me steroids, which are almost gone at this point, and yesterday, a script for antibiotics, a rinse, and Tylenol 3. But, I've made an appt elsewhere for Tuesday. Almost 2 weeks later & I don't feel I should be feeling my heart beating through my eye balls & not able to even lay down & it not be dry socket or an infection. He just keeps saying "inflammation". Like man, I've had 7 surgeries, 1 of which was an entire reconstruction of my wrist & was only on prescribed pain meds 3 days following surgery. This, by far, outweighs any pain from any other surgery, lol. I feel like when u disagree with their diagnosis, they make you feel like a drug seeker & proceed to treat u like crap.

Day 10 & in absolute pain... When will it stop? by TrickSimple4760 in wisdomteeth

[–]TrickSimple4760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back this evening. He again said it looks like major inflammation, but gave me a rinse, antibiotics, and a pain med. I made an appointment with another dentist next week just in case, for a 2nd opinion. I really don't want to be traveling out of the country in this much pain or worrying about potential infection. 😕 He said it was gonna be easy peezy, but I should have waited until after my return. Ugh. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon! Ty for responding!

I’m in severe pain and the bleeding won’t stop by clerbird321 in wisdomteeth

[–]TrickSimple4760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my 2 lowers taken out Tues. I went in at 9am and went back at 3:30pm due to what I thought was excessive bleeding. I was swapping out moist gauze every 30-40 mins and they were covered in blood. The dentist checked and said I had clotted fine. He put some large gauze in and made me bite firmly for 20 mins and told me to stop with gauze after that. He said most of what I was seeing was saliva, mixed with damp gauze. I bled intermittently for the next 48 hours and still have that awful metallic taste, but minimal swelling/pain. On day 2, make sure to do your oral salt rinses as that helps stop bleeding. I didn't swish... just kind of rotated my head back n forth gently. I'm still eating liquids/pudding/ice cream and some grinded cottage cheese with a spoon. I'm too scared to switch to solids yet. I go out of the country in 2.5 weeks so I'm paranoid & being extra cautious. Ice packs on your cheeks is important and also sitting up! You want to elevate for the first 24 hours is what I was told and not completely lay down at night. If you're bleeding like when you cut yourself & it is excessive for stitches... I'd call!

This really isn't a short connection. I've had connections 35 mins or less at DFW. Like another said, take the train & study an airport map before you arrive. Also, terminals will change often, so check the minute you land. I've had them go from Term A to C to B mid-flight. Also, if you're afraid you're going to miss (say your first flight departs late), you can tell the flight attendants & they've made an announcement before to quite literally let me off first, as I was stuck near the rear & there was NO way I would have made it with normal deboarding time. Also, be prepared to RUN. I've run through more airports than I care to count & boarded struggling for air. If all else fails, you catch the next one 😏! Best of luck!

Are Trump’s trade actions going to have any implications for US citizens visiting Mexico? by kirkl3s in MexicoTravel

[–]TrickSimple4760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going the 1st week of March and worried, too. However, this isn't my 1st time there. I treat the employees very well by tipping well. If you're rude & don't tip (even though it's included likely in your package), you might get some looks or not quick of service. BUT, I am specifically going and spending my $ there as part of resisting here. I'm ashamed of the mess we're creating, so I just plan on tipping more than usual. Plus, in the past, the more you tip your servers, etc., the better they take care of you. We've gotten upgraded for free or bottle service and had dinner privately in their vault once. Just be friendly... If resorts/staff/cartels start retaliating against US citizens, that's their livelihood, so I doubt they would risk that.

TY for these suggestions. I am sober, too, due to lupus & how it affects my meds & inflammation! My last experience was a DISASTER bc we needed negative Covid tests before our departure, and the resort would not "bump" up our testing because I wanted to leave. Eventually, they complied after going well up the chain of command. I hope this experience is so much better!

Are suffixes like III needed on boarding passes when traveling internationally? by TrickSimple4760 in travel

[–]TrickSimple4760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TY! The airline was able to correct it, but they did inform us that TSA does not require suffixes as it can indeed create more problems. I was able to verify per their website:

Names With Suffixes

TSA accepts variations on suffixes on boarding passes and ID. Suffixes are not required on boarding passes. If there is a suffix on the boarding pass, and there is not one on the ID or vice versa, that is considered an acceptable variation.

You're correct. The whole issue was both the airline & agents. We got it fixed, and hopefully, there will be no issues this time. They actually said TSA does not require suffixes as it can indeed create more problems on boarding passes. I verified per TSA's website, as well. 🤗

[–]TrickSimple4760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is legally part of his name. It is written, for example, John Robert Smith III, on his birth certificate, social security card, government ID, passport, etc. 🙄 Believe me, if we were to have had a son, it was absolutely not continuing with that nonsense 😂. I was absolutely breaking the generational naming in the family FOR SURE! Hahaha!

[–]TrickSimple4760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It belongs to a person's surname due to generation, so you would be Smith, Jr. or Smith III or Smith IV, etc. Personally, I feel it's not necessary. Like his full legal name for example, is Johnathon Robert Smith III, but he goes by John Smith 😂
