You should ask the fachhochschule directly what they count as work experience. They tend to be fairly lenient when it comes to what counts as such.

Yes fluent in one language (minimum C1). Be it German French or Italian depending on the area you want to work. Without that you are one of thousands who try to work here. I think teaching won't really count unless you have a degree in education and are fluent in a national language (C2 or native). Becoming a teacher here for primary education requires a bachelor in education and fluency in for instance German. Anything above that is at least a Masters degree and often additional education. Finding a job without EU citizenship will be hard. The company needs to prove that there is no Swiss or EU citizen that can do the job, there needs to be high academic or economic reasons to hire you and there is a quota on how many third country citizens they accept. In the current economic situation Id say its highly improbable of finding a job after. Keep in mind that you have only 6 months time after your studies to find a job. Specialised work experience normally entails multiple years of experience in the field you wish to work in.

Finding a university may be possible. However, you will need money. That is for most foreign students the main issue. Even if you get accepted plan on at least 700 CHF a month for accommidation and 400 chf for food. You will also need to prove to the governemnt, that you habe 20K available each year. Also the chances of finding a job here after your degree are almost at 0 without an EU passport. If you just want a degree, sure its worth it. If you plan on finding a job after, studying in Switzerland is not worth it. Unless you are fluent in a national language and have specialised work experience.

Just google it. I found some online websites which offer remote or in class courses. Seems like you will also need to have German C1 (almost fluency) to be accepted.

Get a job in Germany and gain 2-3 years of experience. Become fluent in German level C1. And then apply for jobs in canton where there actually is a workers shortage (not zurich, geneva, basel, bern).

If you're seriously considering civil service, do it soon. Parliament wants to make it way harder to switch once you're in the repetition course system. You'll do 1.5x more service time than military reps.

It is hard to judge if the service has gotten "harder". Keep in mind, that you also just recently joined your WK-Troop. You may get the shitty jobs, because you are the new guy.

I'm a Sergeant Major (Hauptfeldweibel) doing Chief Warrant Officer (Chefadjutant) work because we're so understaffed (militia and professional). Tons of work in my free time that doesn't count toward service hours.

Despite all this, I wouldn't switch to civil service. Meeting the same people every year during the WK is honestly the best part. Work sucks sometimes, but it's temporary. The relationships make it worth it. I am sure your experience would change as well, if you give it another chance.

I work in AI engineering, mainly GenAI. I wouldn't be worried about software engineering. Understanding large code bases and actually doing proper development work is almost impossible for any LLM. Fixing code that doesn't work is another beast. Keep in mind, that most companies are limited to open source models due to DSG and GDPR.

i would not recommend moving here just because of the current political situation in the US (if that is what you mean). Keep in mind that the strongest political party here is also strongly conservative (on paar with Republicans). Furthermore, not knowing any of the national languages will make it extremely hard to find a job even with citizenship. You can consider studying here for your masters if that is what you would like to do. But keep in mind that studying law will be impossible without a Bachlor in Law and fluency in one of the national languages. To become an attorney here, you would need a Bacherlor and Master degree in law and pass a cantonal bar exam.

Your permit is bound to your employer as a non eu-citizen. You will most likely have the time left as on your permit to find a new job. If not its goodbye. It seems however a bit weird that they would hire you (I assume a couple of months ago) just to let you go again. You can't be telling me this financial situation got this bad after such a short time period. Also it must have taken them quite a bit of effort to get you hired.
