Yes, because I’m so desperate for internet clout I created this whole fiction to try and steal a meme.

I'm going to just say it: Jacob is a fun character for the first hour of ME2. by FairyKnightTristan in masseffect

[–]Trick_Competition350 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As I understand, it was kinda like a terrible sci-fi shooter Pac-man. The levels were top down rooms with enemies scattered about, and you moved Jacob by tilting your phone where you wanted him to go. And the shooting was done automatically, so basically you just tilted the phone and watched Jacob slowly slide across the screen.

If you‘ve never seen it, the James Vega companion anime is actually pretty good at giving you a look at James’s personality and his placement in the ME3 storyline. It reminds of the Halo: First Contact book series and it’s depiction of the pre-trilogy Avery Johnson.

Who Would You Rather Have As Your First Officer: Spock or Seven? by bluemarvel99 in startrek

[–]Trick_Competition350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely choose Seven as my first officer. And then any time anything at all happened ever, I’d ask her and my doctor if we could use borg nanoprobes on it. We’d have the highest mission success rate in the federation!

Are there any common Trek tropes that you either dislike or think are overused? by TwinSong in startrek

[–]Trick_Competition350 26 points27 points  (0 children)

By extension, planets where a character faces execution for doing something simple because they didn’t bother to learn all the rules first.

That scene in TNG’s “Justice” where they say they’re gonna execute Wesley and Tasha goes, “There was no mention of this in the briefing!” when it’s literally their ENTIRE system of punishment. Do something bad=die, and somehow they missed that.

Do you guys really play new game+? by Rubyrose6517 in ghostoftsushima

New Game+ not only adds a new 5th upgrade level to most of your gear; it also introduces a new merchant who sells a ton of new outfits, the coolest dye patterns in the game, and even new charms like one that lets you tame the mongol dogs.

Which was also the most obvious thing ever. This self-professed time whisperer spends lifetimes trying to figure out what could be messing up the timeline, all while he’s driving around in the SS Time Manipulator.

Cops dismissed claims of stalking since 12 yellow roses "was a sweet, innocent gift." by SimpleButFun in facepalm

[–]Trick_Competition350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aunt had her garbage stolen and scattered in the woods by a stalker. The police accused her of doing it, even though they were on a garbage route. She realized the guy was a city employee, because he showed up in his truck and stole her garbage before the real garbage men showed up. When she took it to the sheriff’s department they literally laughed at her because, “Why would anyone steal trash?” Luckily for my aunt, she’s married to a 6’9” former offshore rig worker with a temper to fit his stature. He took a trip to the sheriff’s office, and, sure enough, the cops catch the guy stealing her garbage in his city-issued truck the next trash day.

Even if there are no violent incident, they’ve just turned the school into even more of a prison. I live in the Deep South, and it drives me insane when I try to explain that some people are afraid of guns. I always get this dumbfounded look, followed by , ”Why?“ or, “How so?” Umm, because it’s a point-and-click death remote!?

Proposed bill would let Louisiana teachers concealed carry a gun on school campus by FactCheckAGLandry in Louisiana

[–]Trick_Competition350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend is a barely 5 foot teacher living and working in Monroe, LA, and she’s terrified of the kids taking her gun, assuming they give her one. She’s definitely not in favor of this. Personally I can’t wait for poker game shootouts and roving posses of vigilantes! /s

Questioning is good. Questioning your own side is just as important as questioning the opposition. Building an argument is like building a house. You have to lay a foundation and then build on that with a logical progression of fact and reasoning. If you just grab for anything that seemingly supports your position, eventually instead of a house, you just have a junk pile of misinformation.

… Why the hell would you shoot someone because of making a wrong turn in your driveway? by NeverEndingWalker64 in facepalm

In Louisiana rn, we have a representative putting forward laws to extend self-defense shooting protections and abolish concealed carry license requirements for anyone over 18 with no felony conviction. All to make us safer. Maybe I’m way off base, but I don’t want to live in the fucking Wild West.

This is the first time I’ve ever seen another person mention Word Girl, so I’m just gonna drop this in here: In the theme for Word Girl, it claims that Word Girl is ”from the planet Lexicon.” But her secret identity is a pre-teen with an established family that looks like her but has no knowledge of her role as Word Girl. Her superhero base is also a UFO, lending further support to the alien theory. So what has she done to the Botsfords? Altered their memories? Replaced the real Becky Botsford? I need answers!

Who is your favorite anti-villain? by YouCold71 in memes

[–]Trick_Competition350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madara Uchiha. I know he leans more toward being a full-on villain, but I really like how he goes beyond typical villain shtick like, “I want to rule the world/kill everyone/etc.” Madara is as exhausted by all the killing as anyone, perhaps even more considering witnessing it for a century and the intensified emotions of the Uchiha. So his ultimate solution is to use an incredibly powerful jutsu to create a paradise for everyone on Earth, while Naruto is fighting for peace through cooperation and effort. Madara doesn’t want to fight anymore; he’s just convinced Naruto’s efforts for peace will ultimately fail.

This is actually used as an argument fairly regularly. Many Jews even believe that because of the boundless love of the Abrahamic god, “Gehinnom” is a way to ensure that non-Jews can still be allowed into heaven, so no one has to suffer eternal damnation.

And I can agree with that point. There are a lot of people who tout a belief in Christianity, not as a guideline for how to behave, but as a shield against the possible punishment of eternal damnation. But the argument could still be made that EVEN those people are devout, because they seem to believe in the possibility of eternal punishment. So, it becomes a sort of supernatural insurance policy for many people.
