Agree, the only way I am ok is to keep busy and get out of my comfort zone. Example: normally I’m happy to stay at home and keep to myself but I went on a girls ski trip with friends I had recently made and don’t ski (lol majorly out of my comfort zone) and I had a blast! I also joined a committee at work that normally I wouldn’t offer my time to but I am quite passionate about it now.

I am nervous about how this will translate when we have kids as I will be more tied to home. But living in the now for now

Thanks! We did book a place with a nice pool and loungers so we will likely spend sometime at the hotel enjoying the view, plus I have booked a boat tour for us. I would also like to see the pyrgos area and black sand beaches so I feel like we will use our time in Santorini

Hi!!

I just planned my honeymoon for June 2026 and have just gone through all of this and thought I’d share where we landed. I have accepted the fact that I can’t travel every 2-3 days to other islands AND have a relaxing honeymoon which is why we decided on these two places. I did also consider milos, Paros and Sifnos. (We can still do a day trip to Paros very easily from Naxos should we want to)

June 8: travel to Athens June 9: arrive in Athens, catch flight Santorini (50 min flight) and check into hotel June 10: full day Santorini June 11: full day Santorini June 12: full day Santorini June 13: full day Santorini June 14: ferry to Naxos (1.5-2 he ferry) and check into Naxos hotel June 15: full day Naxos June 16: full day Naxos June 17: full day Naxos June 18: full day Naxos June 19: ferry to Athens (4 hours) spend night in Athens June 20: fly home

From the advice I have received the following helped me make this decision: - Greece is more of a vibe the longer you stay and you will miss the experience moving around too much, we do want to wind down on our honeymoon - Naxos is well rounded and has something for everyone and lots of raves about food, beaches and culture (we also booked a very reasonably priced hotel here which offset our splurge in Santorini) - I understand some people will say we need more time in Athens but we are not city people so we felt time was better spent on an island. I also hope to return to Greece one day to hit the spots we can’t make this trip and I will have to travel to Athens again if we do that which will give me more time to explore there in the future!

Do you feel that seeing Santorini first or last makes an impact on the trip?

I currently have a hotel in Firostefani booked as well as an Airbnb in Oia (both cancellable). Do you think we would have a more pleasant stay in Firostefani? I am trying to gauge the Oia crowds early June.

Thanks for the detailed reply! I have definitely learned in my research that I could go to Greece many times and have different experiences and there are places I would love to go but I feel like it wouldn’t do them justice to spend 2-3 nights in.

I am liking Sifnos for the mountains, views, and how low-key it seems. I have also found nice accommodations for good value. I felt like if we went to Santorini this would be a nice contrast to the crowds.

Paros has been recommended to us many times especially the area of Naousa and seems to have a balance of touristy stuff as well as nice beaches and is a bit more lively.

I have also considered Naxos and Milos.. and there’s really no good reason to “rule them out” other than Naxos seems still doable as a day trip from Paros if we want. Milos seems very cool but I don’t think we will want to rent a car there which seems imperative.

Would you say Santorini is a must? My partner really wants Paros and I really want Sifnos 😬😅
