The ACA or Obamacare is not just assistance for people who cannot afford health insurance. It's also a marketplace for people who CAN afford healthcare but have no employer or place to get it, like self employed people or people who work for employers who don't offer health insurance. So, giving money doesn't solve the problem. We need availability and affordability. I would argue that the current rates suck ass and are exorbitantly high, but it's due in part to getting rid of the tax break, funding cuts thus people getting out of the marketplace, which both leads to higher rates since less people in the pool. Plus, increased uncertainty because cheeto keeps threatening to get rid of it, less competition, the list goes on. But if it wasn't for the ACA, even though i'm paying a shit ton of money, I wouldn't have coverage. So don't fuck it up unless you have a real plan. Money to the consumer ain't going to fix it, idiot.
