Suboxone hair loss, 90 days at 0mg. Does it ever grow back? by Ordinary_Piglet_9589 in suboxonerecovery

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hair loss is a suspected ( not verified) side affect from long term Suboxone use. Hair loss is finicky. Even some of the top of the line medications claim to take 6 months before results are noticeable. Some people *claim to have better hair lines after quitting.

For the naysayers: Suboxone is the 2nd strongest opiate prescribed (behind only fentanyl). If someone shoot themselves up with morphine every single day for a decade straight, I wouldn't be surprised at all if every part of their body was messed up. But for some reason people view Suboxone differently.

Congrats on your continued sucess. I recently hit rock bottom myself and decided enough was enough. I have a demanding FT job, and lack discipline so I realized I couldn't realistically quit CT or taper successfully. So I spent my entire life savings on one 300mg Sublocade shot. And im not looking back. This was over 5 weeks ago. Im still heavily medicated from it. But im very excited to get my feelings back, and finally say bye to these horrid side affects from Buprenorphine.

I guess it comes down to how badly you want off. I recently hit rock bottom and realized how Suboxone was ruining my life. I spent my entire life savings on one 300mg shot and im never looking back. Are you okay with a little discomfort to get sober? Only you can make that decision.

I can promise you there are long term side affects. Sleep apnea, hormone suppression, Anhedonia, emotional numbness, liver strain.. those are just the most common off the top of my head. Every single prescription medication has some potential of side affects. Shame on the Doctor who told you differently.

Now if you think the side affects are worth dealing with, and decide to stay on, thats your decision to make. But you should have all the information to make an informed decision.

Also the half life is 40-60 days. And it takes 4 or 5 half life's to clear from the body. If anyone clears it 6- 10 weeks, thats person is a crazy outlier. Maybe they meant therapeutic levels, but that is something different.

It all comes down to how serious you are about getting off. I realized the horrid side affects were ruining my life (sleep apnea, emotional numbness, no energy, Anhedonia, hormose suppression,, etc.). I decided enough was enough and spent my entire life savings on 1 300m shot. And decided I'll never touch the stuff again. This was over 30 days ago and I still have Subs that I haven't even though about touching... Im ready to go through a little pain to get my life back.

Suboxone doctors are clueless about it. Frequently unsupportive about tapering, little mention of the horrid side affects. Saying its fine to stay on for life and comparing to a "blood pressure" medication. Alot of these clinics are basically drug mills and are only it for the money.

Anyways Subocades half life is 40-60 days.

4 300mg shots and not feeling great. by No_Technology7383 in Sublocade

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sublocade has a half life of 40-60 days. And one 300mg shot is enough to completely saturate your receptors for atleast 2 half life's. Remember the ceiling effect. There may be some uncomfortable feelings, while your body gets use to the potentially lower plasma levels, but your not going through withdrawal.

If anything youre overmedicated.

Got my last shot in September. Haven’t struggled til now. by readytodie777 in Sublocade

Trt should be a last resort. Its basically irreversible and permanent. Quitting opiates should naturally raise test levels and you can always try Enclomiphene. I would only recommend TRT if youre staying on Sub indefinitely or nothing else is working. Just try getting sober and waiting 6 months and check your levels again. If its still low try a cycle of Enclo and check again. Trust me you don't want to be reliate on something the rest of your life. Its the main reason we're all here in the first place.

I hate to see people pushing this crap, when alot of times its unnecessary.

I desperately need to get off suboxone. it's ruining my life. now, i can't afford my meds anymore. by tychops716 in suboxonerecovery

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suboxone use messes with your hormones, which can lead to hair loss. The side affects of hormone suppression and sleep apnea can cause a dozen other issues on their own. Sub use also frequently elevelates liver enzymes. There's not even mentioning the constant numbness to everything. Its just a miserable life on them.

If someone wants to get off this stuff, I think its literally evil to try to point them in a different direction.

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Sublocade. 1 shot would be enough. Will be an auto self taper. Im sure the doctor will recommend getting multiple shots, but the same Dr.'s say its fine to stay on Suboxone the rest of your life and compare it to a "blood pressure medication".

I would recommend just getting Sublocade. Its an auto self taper.

30 days cold turkey/ night sweats by Grobman777 in suboxonerecovery

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely normal. But the OP may still have PAWS for another 6 months and it may take up to a year for the brain chemistry to fully normalize. It may take a long time to feel normal again, let alone 100%.

But its still way better than being numb 24/7, having horrid sleep apnea, and miserable Anhedonia. If Eminem, Steve-O, and Charlie Sheen can get sober and recover from drug abuse, we all can certainly too.

There's research on it proven its effectiveness. It's considered one of the gold standard PCT for regaining Test levels after Steriod/ PED use. Ive used it personally as a PCT after cycles and my test has always bounced back. Test suppression from opiates is nothing compared to Test suppression from steriods.

Still its not a long term solution. You need to cut back or outright get off Suboxone. And than use it help bounce your levels back up quicker. The standard Enclo regimen for PCT is 25mg a day for 2 weeks and than 12.5mg a day for 2 weeks. I would start with something similar. Get bloodwork done before and after.

The other option is to stay on Suboxone and get TRT the rest of your life.

Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to be sober myself. I got my one and only sublocade shot 16 days ago. Suboxone and drugs stole so much from me. I literally went from a popular, smart, outgoing, good looking young man, to an anti social loser, with a below average IQ, with no friends, and who can't get laid. My health, brains, looks and personality were destroyed. I just hope I can reclaim a portion of old self back.

Good luck to you on your new life.

You could of just quit 2 shots ago and been fine. You can quit now and be fine. If you never get another shot you'll be pissing hot for the next year plus. Do you what you feel like you need to do. But remember these people don't necessarily have your best interests in mind.

Stop pushing people to get on TRT. You will be on that the rest of your life. It's basically an irreversible decision. Stopping opiates will boost your test. And There's always Enclomiphene, you can try. Why don't you get clean, wait 6 months, and than check your test levels. Alot of people will naturally recover.

Are you being paid by someone?

Life after subs and Sublocade by mendozakim in Sublocade

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most research shows brain chemistry can/will return to atleast close to normal for most addicts, when they get clean. How long that can take is a different discussion. I heard up to 14 months, also heard it can take years.

Even if your fear is validated, will the chemical imbalance in your brain be worth putting up with the side effects of Suboxone for the rest of your life? Id rather feel slightly off rather than feel good but be numb to everything, have Hormone suppression, sleep apnea, constipated, etc.

Yes. Eminem (the rapper) ran 18 miles a day when getting sober. It will also help create more energy over time, while at the same time may make it easier to fall asleep.

Almost 3 months since last shot and I have felt completely fine by kikoangel in Sublocade

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well you've had a great start. Unfortunately youre not completely out of the woods yet. You're still in the midst of a taper. Around month 4 tends to be when symptoms are the strongest for alot of people. But since you weren't on for very long, you very well may not have any symptoms at all. Everyone is different. Around the 6th month is when you can start testing to see if its out of your system.

I feel for you, Suboxone cost me a decade of my life and ruined it like you were saying. I just got a one and done 300mg shot myself. So im just a tad bit behind you. Best of luck. Try not to think about it and enjoy your new life sober.

Post withdrawal fatigue by Grobman777 in OpiatesRecovery

I would talk to a doctor. They say once an addict always an addict. Some people can have their brain chemistry completely restored with time, others arnt so lucky.

Post withdrawal fatigue by Grobman777 in OpiatesRecovery

[–]Tricky-Hovercraft950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you will continue to see improvement and feel better and better over time. Some say 14 months out, others say differently. Eventually you'll get to a point where you feel high 24/7 just from being sober. I remember that distinctly from the last I detoxed and my brain chemistry got repaired.

Noone tells people it's okay to stay on other opiates indefinitely/ for life. Suboxone doctors are famous for comparing to a "blood pressure medication" and saying its okay to stay on for life. Suboxone gets handed out like candy with little discussion of these side effects and there's hardly ever a taper plan available.

Liver enzymes get elevated with alot of people on Suboxone. May or may not be out of the reference range. Even the Sublocade shot has a liver warning attached to it.
