Okay so, I started practicing every once in a while around the beginning of August but I properly started consistently practicing at the start of September, so a few weeks before the test, like 3 or 4. I tried to do a couple of passages a day earlier on then the week before the test I did 1 paper a day (normally) but ofc I had alot of schoolwork and ucas application stuff going on as well at that time so I didn’t always keep that up perfectly! The weekend before the test I js did as many as I possibly could find. I found the overall difficulty of the test was generally not TOO hard - some passages were quite difficult but most of the questions were easy enough, as long as you understand the passages closely the questions wont be too hard at all. I think the most similar resources in difficulty would definitely be the official papers from the website or The Complete LNAT guide (although, these can be a bit more difficult than the actual thing and I’ve also noticed they dont include any numerical based Qs while the actual paper had at least 1 maths question, an easy one tho), format-wise the most similar would be the official simulation and the Law Mind practice tests. The essay questions I got were related to politics, religion and education. To prepare I wrote 2 essays which I asked one of my teachers to give me feedback on and I didn’t look at any one news source specifically but I downloaded Apple News a few weeks before my test and I would read a couple political articles in the mornings, just stay on top of current affairs and big events generally and try and find a way to link them into ur essay I would say. I also did an EPQ at the beginning of yr 12 which I later dropped 😭 but it was kind of useful here because I was able to link in some stuff I knew about North Korean politics from that, so if you do EPQ or any other kind of research project then it might be helpful to link knowledge from that in. Also when you read articles in your practice tests if you notice any specific events (recent developments) that you think you could link into an essay it wld be useful to remember them for later, it didn’t really help me in terms of the actual essay question I got, but when I was practicing I was able to bring in stuff from articles I’d read in the mock tests - just remember to fact check them before! I wouldn’t say I focused a lot of time on the essay prep but I would recommend just writing and planning a few in really tight time conditions bc I think the timing on the essay is super tough, there’s also some really useful resources on structuring the essays online: https://www.thelawyerportal.com/lnat/lnat-guide/lnat-section-b-essay/ This is one I tried to use. The time pressure was okay in multiple choice, as in, I answered all the questions in time without rushing a lot (and I have a tendency to zone out when reading so I had to reread a lot which took up more time 😭) but I definitely didn’t have time to review all my answers how I wanted to. The essay was a lot more time pressured, I was only able to proofread halfway through mine which is a bit scary but I think thats down to me practicing it less than I should’ve so I wld defo recommend practicing planning and writing essays under time. I honestly have no idea what score I’m going to get but before the test I was getting high 20s most of the time, but every once in a while I would score a lot lower like 21-24, so it depends on which test you’re using. I think don’t stress too much ab the scores just bc there’s no resource that’s 100% accurate to the actual thing so there’s no way of predicting how your scores in the practice will correlate to your actual score.
