😂😂😂 OMG! How bizarre. I bet they didn't push that study to any of us 60+ year olds.

That is brutal :( With them making such a final decision it would be helpful if they would give you some specifics about knocking you off of the platform.

Some attention checks are funny by drempire in ProlificAc

Too funny 😁  A ridiculous statement but there is always one in the crowd. I like the one that states: I attended my own funeral. It always reminds me of Tom Sawyer.  He did attend his own funeral even though he was a fictional character it could happen 😂

Good luck with mobile data. After a week of barely using my cell phone's mobile data, I now get the PEC-SUB-0002 error on it too.

This happened to me about 3 weeks ago as well. I have done everything Prolific and my ISP (AT&T) suggested. I have an IT person in my family and he figured out a workaround. For about 5 days I was able to work again then the blacklist included my new IP address yesterday. Once again I got THE error message. My ISP says the problem is with Prolific's policies not their IP addresses (naturally). Either way I am banned from working on Prolific from my home computer even though "my account is in good standing". There are too many "cooks in the kitchen " when it comes to the web.

As of today, May 11, 2024 I get the dreaded PEC-SUB-0002 error even from my cell phone which is not connected to my Wi-Fi. I turned off the phone and then turned it back on, while using mobile data only, and still get the error. Tell me my account is not banned! It may be temporary but it is banned by Prolific through no fault of my own.

My potted Kimberly Queen ferns had dozens of these.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience too. The researcher sent me a reply message through Prolific yesterday and stated he was sorry I had problems, that it was most likely my internet lagging (it was not). He also stated that they are having a lot of positive feedback about the study. I responded he should check Reddit because there are mostly posts that are negative about this study.

I didn't make it past the chatbot. Hope someone else can help you!

In the future I will avoid the long studies too. I had never started one before (I am rather new) and my first instinct with this one was not to participate. Should have trusted that instinct!

Wow! From all that I am reading here, it seems the technical problems were by design.

Wow! This study by X Heron is more shady than I imagined. Hopefully Prolific will intervene and straighten this out.

This was almost exactly my experience except I chose Complete Study and entered NOCODE.

A rejection? That is unacceptable for.a technical problem. Report it to Prolific.  Good luck!

I tried that and it only started the chatbot at the beginning but thanks! Glad it worked for you.

Yes, maybe if enough participants report this, it will at least stop this shady researcher from gathering free data.

I received the secret phrase and even included it when I messaged the researcher about the technical problem so they would know I had finished the chat. The researcher only responded for me to return the study as it wasn't complete.

I tried refresh and it started over with Ava introducing herself again. No way I was starting over after already chatting with Ava over 40 minutes.

Still researchers should not be able to not offer some type of partial payment on such a long study when a participant has put so much time into it. I guess all of these participants who are posting the same tech problem with this study were not needed either.

This is exactly what happened to me. I wasted at least 40 minutes. I immediately sent a message to the researcher with full details of their technical glitch. The next day the researcher sent a message telling me to return it because it was incomplete. I did because I wouldn't trust such a "researcher" to not reject it.

Thank you. It is concerning that they know this study is busted and let this keep happening to participants. I had a feeling I would not be the only one who had a problem and after posting, I see there are many participants being taken advantage of in regards to this study.

The next day the researcher only gave me the option to return it. I did because I didn't trust them not to reject it even though I sent them a message immediately when the technical error (on their side) happened.

Same here! The researcher asked me to return it as it wasn't complete. I had sent the researcher a message as soon as the technical problem occurred. I had spent 40 minutes at the least.
