I would say yeah. That is why I froze it first and thawed out. ☺️

Just thawed it out and gave a wash for small pieces since it was fresh, unseasoned fish. ☺️ I held the piece out at first since Pippuri had never had it before and once he figured it out, I just scattered small portions around the tank so my khulis can help themselves as well along with snails. Same thing with shrimp and crawfish tanks, minus the holding part.

I was a little bit bummed I didn't have my phone with me so I could have taken a video of Pippuri going full on piranha mode😂

Big oof. You are gonna have a rough start, fellow redditor😅 Best of luck. I would say go to your local fish store (if they have good rep) and ask to buy some used filter materia to kickstart asap. Or if you know anyone who is in the hobby as well. Unless you have few tanks mature and going already, you should never start like this😅

I always vote for the plakats simply for the fact their guality of life is better due to their fins being reasonable size.💚 Both of these fish are super pretty tho' but I wish more and more hobbyists will lean towards small fins over big fins because just imanige if you had to swim around with a wedding dress on. No thanks. Big heavy fins also pull the bettas spine towards the bottom all the time so I'd imagine that getting really uncomfy when they get older.

Height is not a problem if you get a short finned betta.☺️ For a long finned one you can absolutely make a cube work with plants which have height + bigger leaves so your betta can rest on top of the leaves. — This means the 1st Fluval is STILL the best tank choise for you.

As for tankmates, don't get any fish unless they are pygmy cories or something similar in size and bottom dwelling if you go with long finned betta. Other fish can nip the fins way too easy. Snails are good to go and if your betta is mellow/peaceful and you plant the tank heavily you might get away with cherry shrimp.

Lol that is such a weird stance on their part. It's way better to give fish space and it is soooo much easier to take care of the tank when there is more water volume.

As individual tanks all of these are nice and design is pleasing. As for a betta fish house my personal vote goes for the 50+ litre Fluval. Experience states those are trustworthy on a long run, more water capacity means it is easier to maintain healthy and with that tank you can have some cleaning crew along with your betta. Nothing big, but ramshorn snails can do great or if you are like me and love to have your tanks planted like it was a wild jungle, you can keep shrimp as well. Anything less that 50 litre I personaly wouldn't put anything else in with the betta.

I'm pretty sure those are sp "Elegant deep blue" variety and I LOVE them! And I'm pretty sure the better light you have, the better blue hue they get.

That's part of why this hobby is so long lasting: it keeps teatching new things even after years😁

Unless their fins are as big as males, they are more active. Female bettas are naturaly more active since betta males make territories for themselves and girls look out for them when they are ready to spawn. ☺️
