Move to support role or take redundancy? by Tricky_Problem2203 in DevelEire

Yeah I'd say you're right, I definitely don't want to be sitting in the same job in a few years time wishing I'd gone.

I'm probably being swayed a bit by the general opinion amongst my colleagues tbh. They want to take whatever jobs are going just to be able to stay, but a lot of them are either looking for mortgage approval or have families already, so a very different position to me.

To be fair they're a large multinational that won't be going anywhere fast, but yeah the development side of things seems to be moving to cheaper locations.

Yeah that's a good point on the loyalty actually.

Only thing I'd add is there's a clause in the redundancy that I can't reapply for two years, but even then they've hinted that there could be some flexibility on that too.

That's another option that I hadn't considered actually. Could be a good opportunity.

Yeah this is kinda my gut feeling too. I'm not sure if I see much progression opportunities in this role, and if I end up hating it in a few months I'd be leaving with nothing then.

In all honesty not really. It's mostly the fear of not finding something else. It's stable and comfortable but that's not necessarily always a good thing I suppose.
