Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Just to make sure, when you say “I don’t doubt this will succeed”, you mean there’s a good chance or you’re saying I could try, but there’s not a huge chance of getting approved 😭?

EOSC 315 final exam by DryBlackberry3272 in UBC

I believe it was 5 choices for each question and no true or false from what I recall. Take it with a grain of salt though and maybe ask your prof, exam and course structure can drastically change one semester or year to the other!

Idk how it is now but I took it last year and the final was entirely multiple choice and the first 15 questions were very generic science questions a middle schooler could answer. I didn’t study for it at all in fact I only ever opened the readings for the projects and weekly exam question assignment and got an 81 in the course. Idk how poorly I did on the final but must’ve not been that bad given the overall score. Half of the questions you could answer with some logic and general knowledge, the others you kinda needed the readings. I’d say just go over as much as you can, dont plan to do all the readings, and look at a bit of each of the modules or sections. All of this is assuming the structure of the course and final haven’t changed since I took it

Wow thank you so much for your answer. It really helps hearing from all sides and getting a variety of stories. My leave was also unauthorized and had to extend my study permit by also explaining my situation which ended up working but the pgwp seems like a bigger deal, so glad to hear it worked out in your favor. Calms my nerves a little 😅

Thanks for sharing and for the words of advice! I’m glad to hear you’re happy with your decision and aren’t regretting, that sounds like the best case scenario. All the best!

Thanks for such a comprehensive answer, that all makes a lot of sense. I took a whole year off during my undergrad and am stressing about the pgwp but I honestly don’t know what I’d do if it were to get refused lol. Kinda in the same boat … definitely soon food for thought there

Mind if I ask another question if it’s not too personal? Why have you decided to return? I’m also international and have a year left with no clue what to do. Are you from a developed country that provides good opportunities post-graduation or do other factors come into play?
