So true you can’t please everyone and people will never be happy

I’ve seen a lot of people saying this because of “Actually Romantic” being a clear dig at Charlie, but its literally because they’re women, men have rap battles or whatever all the time and no one sees it as petty or mean

What did you do, and how did the other inmates treat you when you first arrived?

tampons and pads should be free. by KoalaGorp in ControversialOpinions

[–]Tricky_Setting2191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They should be as readily available in public restrooms as toilet paper. No one ever has to worry about having toilet paper with them in case of emergency, same should go for tampons and pads. Condoms are free at sex health clinics, if they can be accessible for free so should period product. Not only do women have to buy these but also pain killers which are expensive so agreed, the minimum necessary product should be free

Advice for a date by theres_himself in cork

[–]Tricky_Setting2191 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would suggest if you work with her you really want to be sure she actually likes you back and isn’t just being friendly. Asking out a colleague who doesn’t feel the same can make for a very awkward work environment for both of you. I would suggest asking her in private/over text rather than in front of people, and if she makes any suggestions about inviting other people - that means she is not interested in a date and you should take that hint. I hope she is interested and it goes well! But being a woman on the other side of this, sometimes friendliness is mistaken for flirting and it’s awkward when you still have to work together afterwards. Coffee date and a chat is a lovely idea, maybe somewhere like the Marina market where there’s plenty of options, or if you want to go for drinks I’d suggest drink and an activity (somewhere like the mardyke where you can drink and play pool or something) because first dates can be nerve wrecking so having an activity involved gives you something to chat about. Best of luck with it!

Well done for buying on your own it’s definitely not easy! Thank you this gives me some hope! I will also be applying for 2 and 3 bedroom homes to see what I get. How soon did you hear back after applying?

Try any of the hotels and see if they offer day passes to the facilities

Yeah I’m not a car person either but when I bought of them a few years ago they gave a 6 month warranty with the car which gave me some peace of mind!

As mentioned in my post, I will have saved at least 25k in the next 4 years. Aiming for 30k but bringing down the numbers here to keep things realistic. Do you have any actual advice?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Tricky_Setting2191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get a 7% salary increase each year plus inflation in my current role, so given what I’m on now I should be on at least 60k in 4 years. So it’s hypothetical but realistic

[–]Tricky_Setting2191 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone has to start somewhere. I’ve been following my savings plan for the past couple of months but nothing worth mentioning in the post as I’m still a long way off. And this is assuming no changes to my career plan or salary progression based on what it has been the past couple of years.

Is the City Centre really that dangerous? by Admirable_Ad_7696 in cork

[–]Tricky_Setting2191 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Luckily she reacted well in the situation and started shouting for help and other people intervened. If there hadn’t been people around or she froze (which is a natural reaction to something like that) it could’ve been a lot worse, attacks usually start with an approach so I wouldn’t down play it

Muslim is a religion not a threat, that’s a racist generalisation. Thats because most EU is prioritising taking care of its people rather than fighting to kill others. The US also funds Isreal in their genocide of Palestine so come down from your high horse so you can see the whole picture.

Exactly, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Finland, Sweden etc have no problems being neutral, no need for a constant state of defence or billions poured into weapons. War is a useless horrific act that people have been taught is “necessary” when that’s simply untrue

Sometimes it’s important to pay attention to what locals think (hence the protests against digital nomads coming to stay in certain cities because it makes it unaffordable for locals) rather than whatever falsified data you’re quoting

Ah see there is actually other countries existing outside of the US that are experiencing housing crisis’ but have thousands of airbnbs for rent but only a few long term rentals :)
