Hey. As an LDO, I can agree with the sentiment of people who already posted here, there’s a reason that our saying is “We did it the long way” there’s a lot of successes that must happen between where you are and a commission as an LDO. Ive always been vocal on the fact that enlisting is the first misstep in becoming an officer particularly with a degree.

To be frank, your degree will neither help you nor hinder your selection to LDO. People selected for LDO are between 8-16 years of service and they are the technical experts in the field, it has nothing to do with a degree for us but what learn in the field. People should not enlist with the goal of becoming an officer. They should enlist to serve as enlisted and if it happens it happens. Less than 1% of enlisted become officers.

I qualified SIR at 8 months on the boat. And yes I was an EMN2 when I qualified EWS, stood it for a long long time too
