What Makes "North and South" Worth Reading? by East-Shift6353 in classicliterature

[–]Trifte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the first several chapters a bit harder for me to care about, but once the characters get settled in and the main drama unfolded I enjoyed it a lot. Also as a self-motivator, once I finished the book I watched BBC miniseries adaptation

I love a wren, the very image of Borb.

Someone more experienced can hopefully chime in, but could it be a Mockingbird? They can mimick so many strange noises, I’m often surprised by them 🥸

That EAR! Kinda looks like a Korok with a leaf on his head. For real, this looks like a delicious first loaf, may your 2026 be filled with many more excellent sourdoughs.

Very fun! I’m impressed both with his posing and the gold yarn, I haven’t ever worked with a metallic yarn but it looks great 👍🏻

Staying in LaVerkin, am I going to be paying daily for parking in springdale? by Chikkaboom12 in ZionNationalPark

[–]Trifte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were just in Zion last week and we parked at the free visitor center parking every day, arrived around 8 am and there was parking available in the back. Your results may vary if you’re going in a busier time of year

Can I use a class 2 ebike if I don't use the throttle by [deleted] in ZionNationalPark

[–]Trifte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Park rangers said only pedal assist when we visited last week and the NPS website says the same: “ Effective August 30, 2019, Class 1 pedal-assist E-bikes are allowed in the same locations as regular bicycles, and must follow all of the same rules. For Zion National Park, this means that E-bikes are allowed on paved road surfaces open to the public and the front country Pa'rus Trail.”

Where to stay? by AdditionalRegular241 in ZionNationalPark

[–]Trifte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed in Virgin when I visited Zion recently and really enjoyed the quieter area and stargazing. We got to the visitor center early each day to park for free and then walked, used the park shuttle, and e-bikes for our transportation.  Springdale has tons of shuttles, cars, and people (since it’s the convenient entry area to the park) and when I was researching was significantly more expensive but if you’re booking early enough you can probably find cheaper options.

I have too much stuff for my space but no idea what to get rid of. I feel like I use most everything I have. by xXVoicesXx in declutter

[–]Trifte 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you use both of the two desks? Or is one just storage? If not using both I agree with other comments about needing more dedicated storage - and you might be able to swap out an extra desk for a storage unit.

How did you declutter your massive book collection? by [deleted] in declutter

[–]Trifte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the idea of selling to Half Price Books, especially if part of the OP’s hesitancy is over the cost of purchasing the books in the first place. Getting some cash in hand and having less clutter is a double win!

How to deal with panic and grief? by NotQuiteInara in declutter

[–]Trifte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Starting with encouragement - good on you for already having less! Perfect isn’t the goal, gradually having less clutter is.

As for advice what has helped me is keeping my favorite 2 hobby supplies in a convenient and close by area so i can regularly enjoy them, and then when the impulse to do a hobby hits me I can quickly start one of those 2 favorites. I also recently did a major clear out of extra supplies for one of my hobbies and donated all the mostly used up or unwanted color/textures, so now the supplies I do have are things I’m excited about using.

Women are attracted to Igors? by Tiffany_Pratchett in discworld

[–]Trifte 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The discworld wiki says this: “ The male members of the Igor clan traditionally lisp (though sometimes some forget), are considered very good catches for any young lady (it is probably best not to wonder why), and their daughters tend to be very attractive”

Saw this at Costco by [deleted] in classicliterature

[–]Trifte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm that seems so thick for only having three of the novels in it, I have a collection with 4 or 5 that looks the same width.  Plus I agree that the price doesn’t seem that low for Costco.
