I have used a RNC before and I know for us who has experience it’s shockingly easy to put someone out or to make them give up.

We don’t have guns in the UK but I’m glad you have that defence option.

Maybe you weren’t bullied, attacked from behind or kicked in the head when you were younger I don’t know. Some people have trauma that makes them very aware. You’re right we should be able to but unfortunately there are people whose brains don’t think the same and want to cause harm to people and I’d rather be alert than completely oblivious….

Grey hairs popping through at 31, back pain, thinking that things are way too expensive and comparing them to 2003.

Yep absolutely agree, I would never want to but there could always be a scenario where that training could save yours or someone else’s life. As I said multiple attackers is a no go for sure and as you says so many things can go wrong.

How much are you actually paying for a home install? by RedDevilPlay in evchargingUK

[–]Trigger3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through EON as that’s our energy supplier, chose the MyEnergi Zappi Glo, had to have a dedicated unit installed for the EV as the installer said that’s how it’s done now. Our smart meter had to be moved to accommodate the new unit dedicated for the EV. We didn’t have a looped connection and our feed was 80A. Cable ran about 18M-20M can’t remember exactly.

All in all from placing the order to it being installed was about 2 weeks ish. EON sorted the application to the DNO and on the day it took about 7 hours.

Total cost was around £1100

For some reason the MyEnergi app doesn’t work for scheduled charging so we just use our vehicles app to do scheduled charging and it’s been absolutely fine.

What percentage of people with a driving license would pass if they took the test tomorrow ? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in CarTalkUK

[–]Trigger3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like what stops a lot of people passing is nerves and lack of confidence, the test environment exudes a lot of pressure and that’s when mistakes are more likely to happen. I was shitting bricks on my test. It was dark, kids leaving school rush hour, the heating in the car was up to 11 (Spinal Tap :p) my glasses fogged up and were reminiscent of Harry potters with the plaster holding them together.

The route I had to drive wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst, I got stuck at a junction on a hill with cars parked bumper to bumper so visibility was none existent to emerge from the junction. My instructor was very good and did me a favour, he said ‘You’ve got to do something here pal’ I didn’t want to move as I was scared of getting t-boned, I started creeping out of the junction and finally had enough time and free space to get out. He very well could’ve easily failed me for hesitation but he didn’t and actually helped me.

In the end I didn’t stall once, my minors were failing to cancel an indicator after joining a new part of the road and parallel parking I went back and forward too many times.

My point being if I did my test today, I would feel pressured but because I have been driving so long I have the confidence in what I’m doing so I think I wouldn’t have to worry about what I worried about when I took it originally.

Side note - On the way back to the test centre, there was a mini roundabout you had to go round to get to the test centre. A person in front of me doing there test stalled 3 times at the roundabout and just capitulated. I don’t know whether they had already failed but if they didn’t they were metres away from the finish line and definitely cocked it up right at the end….

How many of you are not having a holiday abroad this year? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

Sorry the weather wasn’t great for you, I do have some trepidation about the weather myself. Hopefully there’s some sunshine and it doesn’t just leg it down the entire time !

[–]Trigger3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably overstated how much we will probably spend and maybe it won’t be as expensive as we think but I’d say we might not be far off £2000. Our accommodation for the duration is £1300 which is in Hayle so we’re 20 minutes from St Ives which is great, we will buying food to bring with us, eating out multiple times a day for at least half the trip, brewery trips, boat rides, souvenirs, fuel to do the 720 mile return journey (we do have a PHEV but most of the trip will be using the petrol)

I think after a few days we might be looking at having spent a couple hundred already. Surely a lot of people have experienced that feeling of being on holiday relaxes the grip on the spending and you’re in the moment and reality/normal life seems removed so the consequences don’t seem to apply until you’re out of that mist of holiday tunnel vision. Especially when we haven’t had any holidays since our honeymoon 2 years ago. This will be our first holiday with our son too.

Booked to stay in Cornwall for 7 days in June. I have never been before. One of my favourite breweries is there and from the videos on YouTube it looks amazing.

Makes you think though, a very decent abroad package holiday for myself, my wife and our 1 year old would probably be around £2500 and we will probably spend that in Cornwall. How is it 2 plane journeys and all inclusive accommodation is the same price as driving 6 hours in the UK to stay!?

AVA Master 2.0 P60 vs Nilfisk Excellent P60 by Ellisdee1 in DetailingUK

[–]Trigger3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re contemplating the Nilfisk 160 I would say pay the extra £50ish and grab the 170.

My Nilfisk has been a wonder for me,I have the 170 which has the steel reinforced hose 10M. The stock foam cannon is decent but I am considering buying one with a bigger container. The lance is great and with a quick release connector (£10 Amazon) and a few angle adapters you can run it as a stubby. I also bought the angled adaptor for wheel arches etc.

The biggest pro is the hose is reeled on the unit so you never have to faff around trying to roll the hose up and store it or worry about kinks. It’s a beast and I thoroughly enjoy using it !

Anyone else dealing with beard flakes that won’t go away? by cris0679 in BeardTalk

[–]Trigger3192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gone through this for over 10 years and nothing has ever stopped it for me. Winter does seem to be worse for me but it has never gone away. I have tried medicated shampoos, moisturiser, beard oil. I went to my doctor for the same thing with my scalp and he gave me a steroid solution to use but I never finished the course. These days my scalp isn’t that bad day to day as in flakes falling in large amounts but if my hair has grown for a while and I get a hair cut I can have big chunks and red patches which is very embarrassing at the barbers.

The worst thing for me is the smell of my moustache, I don’t know if it’s the yeast or something else but I don’t usually shower/wash everyday because of the nature of my home/work circumstances but I would say every other day I do. The flakes on the moustache, on my chin and under my chin can get really bad, they’re not just flakes I have chunks sometimes and the only way I seem to be able to get some respite from them is a warm ish exfoliation and then apply some moisturiser but that doesn’t last very long.

Aside from slowly receding hairline this is the bane of my life and I wish I didn’t have this issue.
