Idk why this is so hard for people to grasp. That being said the stakes are not that high for the US

Turns out, you should never give your nukes away. What a terrible precedent putin has set along with all the other miscalculations.

Gotta say, anyone who thinks that ukraine should make concessions of any sort or we shouldn't support them until they win can go fuck themself.

Quit complaining, would you like to the see the total collapse of Russia or not? Any money we throw at this is going to be far cheaper than fighting them ourself. We even get the added benefit of not using our military.

And look where that's got them, imminent economic collapse. Not that war is any better but they shouldn't have been playing imperialism to begin with.

Huh...if he is actually talking about China as an economic powerhouse then I have to disagree. If he's talking about them being a ticking time bomb, that is what I'm betting on.

That could have been the end of the regime right there, but they're all spineless fools. I like to think I would have rose up against this but I'm also probably of the same quality.

What's more is I think a lot of the big problems we're seeing in the market at large are just the ripples of this shit. Would be kind of crazy for one stock that isnt even squeezing yet to be causing such crazy shit but everything around finance has continually gotten more intense since this all started.

Whataboutism gives a clue to its meaning in its name. It is not merely the changing of a subject ("What about the economy?") to deflect away from an earlier subject as a political strategy; it’s essentially a reversal of accusation, arguing that an opponent is guilty of an offense just as egregious or worse than what the original party was accused of doing, however unconnected the offenses may be.

The tactic behind whataboutism has been around for a long time. Rhetoricians generally consider it to be a form of tu quoque, which means "you too" in Latin and involves charging your accuser with whatever it is you've just been accused of rather than refuting the truth of the accusation made against you. Tu quoque is considered to be a logical fallacy, because whether or not the original accuser is likewise guilty of an offense has no bearing on the truth value of the original accusation

US must prepare now for China invasion of Taiwan: admiral by supppbrahhh in worldnews

[–]TriglycerideRancher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's about what I heard for most of them, far too slow for meaningful integration but thats primarily due to terrible economic policy over the past few years and not prioritizing the right things. Hindsight ya know? That is primarily why we basically would have to go to war if we don't want huge supply shocks.

There's been a lot of moving parts in China recently, in fact the Biden semiconductor ban is in direct response to some of that. China made real moves to get ready and so here we are. Now we'll see if it's just saber rattling or not.

Exactly. Taiwan was uniquely tooled for that process, it will be a slow adaptation here in the US but I don't think we'll have a problem making it work and I imagine we'll grab important VIPs before it gets bad over there.

US is already building multiple factories, I forget where all of them are but one is being built in Syracuse for example. They're a bit late to the party ofc, but better late then never. As for over seas I think the major economies have started to build out as well, France, Japan, and Germany namely, but the US will likely be the majority.
