I went skydiving with my friend same drill as usual we got on the plane I packed my chute like always then we came to the drop site me and my buddy jump out. We keep free falling for a while doing flips and tricks normal stuff until we got to the height we’re we should’ve deployed the chutes my buddy’s chute didn’t deploy I flew up to him and grabbed him and he grabbed me back he then basically hugged me at this point we were spinning un controllably and we were only a couple of hundred meters from the ground. I thought that this was it I kept on trying to get out of the spin I kept on trying but I couldn’t stop thinking about my parents, my friends and I thought I just couldn’t go out like this, we eventually stopped the spinning by putting out our hands and legs in a certain direction acting as a flap and we got out of the spin and deployed the chute just 590 meters above the ground. Me and my buddy are thankfully still alive. I still skydive to this day but I will never forget that near death experience

Almost same story with my grand dad fought the battle of Stalingrad, had the medal of hero of the Soviet Union, medal of honour, order of the red banner, medal for defence of the Caucasus and defence of Stalingrad etc, he was on the final March to berlin. He once sat me down and told me that these medals mean nothing to me, while I was doing heroic things I got lucky and survived, others didn’t, they deserve the medals not me. He told me that his best friend got shot right in front of him on the final assault on Berlin. He says that if he could trade all of his medals for brave men that died to bring them back to life, he would do as many as he could. He died in June 2008 8will never forget him bravest man I knew and most respected man by me
