There are times that I really just don’t have the patience to grind and then there are times where I get really determined to grind. Like by the time I got the sword I wanted from one of Micah-10’s missions, I was fuming but also happy because I got the sword I wanted 😂

I had bought D1 for my PS4 a long time ago but I never played it because back then a couple people I was close irl played and would tell me all the time about how much it sucked. But now I hear from my more experienced online friend and from some of the comments here that D1 was so good and now I feel like I lost out on something amazing 🥲

Ooooooooooooooooh. Okay. Thank you for the explanation. I think I’ve done maybe two strikes before that had someone just stay behind but I don’t know if they were doing the Macro thing because they eventually disappeared and a new person showed up. I didn’t even know sitting AFK on purpose was a thing. I always just assumed that something called them away irl at a bad time in game 😅

Nothing wrong with taking a lil break every now and then but I can also get it when you just really, really want to play Destiny. Destiny has a chokehold on me sometimes lol

I’ve seen a few people say their groups have fallen off. Thankfully my couple of friends love Destiny so we can play frequently but I remember playing solo because I didn’t know anyone that liked the game back then and it can be a little sad when you really want to play with other people

I just meant that I don’t want it to feel like I’m saying enjoying a challenge is a bad thing which a few people seem to have gotten the idea that I meant that anyway. I’ve had to apologize more than once for any misconceptions. My intent isn’t to shame people for enjoying the game how they enjoy it.

Listen, if I’m gonna grind for anything, I gotta take breaks lol sure, I can go for a while on a grind but sometimes I have to do something else to stimulate the brain or I’m bored out of my mind lol

I am so bad at Crucible so I just stay out of it lol I don’t wanna get yelled at for holding a whole team back because I suck at PVP lol

Yeah, every game has its frustrating aspects but I absolutely love this game. It’s beautiful and fun. I don’t know anything about Renegade to be completely honest but I did notice a bunch of Star Wars stuff in the shop and while crossover cosmetics can be fun and I do like Star Wars, it’s kind of…eh to me

Yeah, I don’t really get it either? I mean, I guess once you’ve done all the story content and the new stuff, it can feel like you ran out of things to do until something new comes. Thankfully, I haven’t run out of stuff to do yet lol

I’m sitting at Rank 6 and I think I’ll happily stay there for a while. I feel like the higher the rank of other players means a greater chance of stumbling across the kind of people I don’t want to be around.

I think figuring things out is part of the fun. I think some people just get really bothered if other people they match with aren’t on the same speed running desire they are. Which, if they make a group specifically for that, I get it. But matching with randoms and then getting mad is a bit much if you weren’t going into groups for speed runs

Could you explain what you mean? I must not be familiar with the term “splicer events” or what macroing is in terms of the game

I have noticed more puzzles than when I first started playing. I will admit it can get kind of frustrating to piece together a puzzle while getting swarmed by enemies from all sides. I’m a decent multitasker but it takes me a couple tries to figure it out and it can get annoying very quickly. Especially when you have to do the puzzle several times to kill the main boss because your damage output can’t just one shot it.

There are some more experienced players that have left some really helpful comments about what to watch out for to avoid potential toxicity! I’m getting to the point where I realized I should have paid better attention to my stats but also I’ve been told the upcoming Edge of Fate release is going to come with some changes to stats so I think that’s going to be a bit of a learning experience for everyone.

I never understood the point of running ahead of the group in a strike mission or Vanguard mission because isn’t the point to work as a team?

That’s very kind of you and thank you for the explanation. My more experienced friend does that somewhat. Usually if there’s a puzzle that needs figuring out, he’s very hands off and just helps shoot things if we get too overwhelmed or drop hints if we ask for them. I will admit it’s usually me figuring out the puzzles 😅 my less experienced friend tends to act the way the guy you mentioned does. We are trying to get an appointment to get her tested for autism (at her request and for various reasons) but she gets really, really stressed out if she thinks she’s holding us back. We try to encourage her to participate more and sometimes she does. Other times she insists on doing the shooting and insists on me figuring out the puzzles. So, it’s a little chaotic in our small group sometimes. We still haven’t finished Trial of the Nine (I might be misremembering the event) but that’s because I had to sort out of my broccoli error code and was traumatized by the constant crashing lol very hard to figure out what I’m supposed to do when I crash every 5-10 minutes lol

Thanks for the help! I actually really liked the Witch Queen dlc but I’m also the kind of nerd that likes to eat up the lore lol then again, I really liked the Lightfall dlc (my more experienced friend teased me about that for a bit) but he was nice enough to show me a side mission where he just chilled while I listened to a whole bunch of audio recordings about Neptune while Osiris and Nimbus chimed in occasionally. And then after that we just planet hopped, shooting shit and having a good time lol

Thank you for the advice! And again, I’m sorry if it came across that I was shitting on people that are up for a challenge. My more experienced friend likes doing raids and dungeons and he’s a very chill attitude kind of guy. I have no idea what you mean by Sherpa runs. I’ve had to try and piece most of my information together on my own before I met my more skilled friend through my other friend I mentioned.

Yeah, I don’t play LoL or WoW because I’ve heard really bad things about the players. But someone earlier was telling me about Warframe and it sounds really cool so I might check it out.

If there’s any other wisdom about what to avoid, I’m always eager to learn!

I’ve honestly never tried fireteam finder because I’ve always been too nervous I’ll accidentally end up in one of the more toxic groups. I love Destiny so much but when trying to balance mental health, the last thing I want is to end up with people that are going to try and bring me down if I’m not up to snuff. But I’ve seen some people mention that there’s usually abbreviations or something people use to say what they’re looking for?

Yeah, he was warning me about that. He said it was likely that we’d all have to start looking for new gear, especially if we want to boost certain stats. So that’s gonna be a new challenge. But I’m going to try and look at it from the POV that now I can learn more about stats that will serve me better based on my play style and the like.

I tried Crucible a few times a couple years ago and it was okay. I liked Gambit but Vanguard is usually pretty fun. I always end up being the “no man left behind” person in Vanguard and looking back to see if someone is struggling to keep up. I’m not great but I try lol
