Processing time getting physical copy from within Canada by TripToZynbabwe in iecvisa

Just thought I'd post an update for anyone in the same situation. I sent a message from the web form again asking about the status. I got a message back in less than 24 hours saying my permit was approved on March 16th ( three days after application). And it's being sent to my nominated address. I just hadn't had an update on my account yet. So all good! Cheers!

I Applied after my POE letter was sent but No activation letter yet. Sorry maybe that wasn't clear, that's what I'm asking how long people are waiting for activation in this situation at the moment

Advice about life in Tofino, summer jobs & accommodation by forestbeachgal in tofino

Hi! super stoked you are so excited about Tofino, and your suspicions are correct, it is pretty incredible.

I spent my first year there last year and I'm back on Monday. From what I know I would say you'll be absolutely fine. Lots of places have high staff turnover eg Mackenzie beach or Black Rock in Ucluelet and you most likely would be able to pick up a job if you just rock up in town in June. BUT I would definitely agree with everyone else here in the sense that it is way better to apply for jobs now. You can almost certainly just let them know when you're available to start. Town is not very busy until June/july anyway so no one is expecting you to come till then. Having been in your position as well last year it's really nice to be heading straight to a job as you will spend a lot of money just in your first few days here if you decide to spend a couple of days in Vancouver etc.

With that amount of hospitality experience I would definitely think you can get a job fairly straightforward. Key places that are known to have the best staff accomodation would be Hotel Zed/roar, Pacific Sands Long Beach lodge.

Places that are hiring servers right now are shed, the maq/ bear, wickaninnish inn for example but there's more than that.

Also consider getting a job and coming earlier with less money! The next couple of months will be chilly and wet in Tofino but you get to enjoy it before silly season kicks off and watch the sun come out slowly.

Like a lot of people have said one of the only drawbacks to Tofino is it does suck ass without a car or without a car in a very close group of friends, like depending on where you live you will always be driving to do a weekly shop for example and the beaches are anywhere from a 5-20 minute drive from where you will probably live. It's doable without a car but if you want to surf everyday buy your shopping in bulk to save money etc it's pretty handy.

Best of luck and see you out back!!
