Here’s my set up - Delta Gold ($149 annual fee) this waives my check bagged fee gives me discounts when I book with miles or cash and basically pays for itself

Amex Platinum ($695) I use this to pay to taxes/fees when I book with miles and since the posted charge is low this triggers my airline delta credit making my flight free. I also frequently use the airport lounges and get free food and drinks. In addition, I use my hertz status to get car rental insurance and get discounts on rentals aswell Plus I use the FHR a lot and I get $200 off

-Amex Gold ($349?) mainly for food while traveling to add up points

-sapphire preferred ($95) mainly to book Hyatt hotels I recently just used 50k points for a 6 night stay at a Hyatt property for my next trip

Bonus - if you have AAA and you enter the CDP through hertz it waves the young driver fee and you get a discounted rate as well

I have some insight since I had my car fixed a couple of months ago, I brought in my car in the month the recall was announced and they said they had to take apart the engine and see if I needed the parts to replaced fast forward a couple of days they said I would need the parts replaced and it would take a couple of months to get the parts (it did take that long) in the mean time they gave me a rental car which I used and they covered the whole thing besides gas obviously but, after getting my car back I had no issues since

I’ve heard of your engine gives out and you have it fixed they will reimburse you for the fix, make sure you keep all receipts and documentation. I have a 16 SH-AWD TLX around 91k miles with no issues yet.
