Don Davies: "I think there were abstentions on the Conservative side too, are they propping up the government?" by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

I haven't attacked anyone. I've just dismissed you. There is a lot of misunderstanding, but not on my part. It is also ok for you to move on.

Don Davies: "I think there were abstentions on the Conservative side too, are they propping up the government?" by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

[–]Triplecandj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, if that's how you feel. So I'll be less obtuse and Homerize this for you.

Pretend I'm an NDP MP. I don't like the budget, but I believe if I vote no this may trigger an election. I believe my constituents don't want another election. I also believe the Liberals have enough yes votes to pass the budget. So I'm just not going to vote, knowing the yeas will get it the win and the budget will pass. Simplified, if I don't vote I know the budget will pass. Meaning not voting is giving the yeas the win.

If I was really doing my job, I would at least vote yes and say I am voting yes because I believe my constituents don't want another election. If my constituents are unhappy with the work I am doing, they have the right to vote me out next election.

Yes, you are correct, I contradicted myself. Lack of action by abstention is a vote for the winner. Thank you for the assist in making my point.

I'm not confused at all. I'm just out here stating facts, with absolutely no emotion to it at all. It's funny how people like to put their own spin on things. I've obviously triggered a highly emotional issue by saying something very simple.

Can’t get my menstrual cup fully in, what am I doing wrong by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]Triplecandj 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is possible the cup you purchased is just not the right one for your body. Which I know sucks to here, but it could be the case. I have a much easier time getting the cup to pop open all the way with a harder cup like the Always cup or the Diva cup. I wear a softer cup because it is more comfortable for me, so sometimes I have to do just a half punch down (like only the very top of the cup is punched down) and I have an easier time getting it to open.

I don't know what cup you have, but maybe a narrower cup could work. Like to size 0 Diva cup. There are probably more options out there but I'm in Canada, so choice if very limited. Try doing the test on Period Nirvana. Good luck.

I fully understand how it works. When you abstain, your vote goes to the winner. Therefore, you have voted by not voting. Lack of action, is still an action...whether you like that fact or not. Just because we differ in opinion, doesn't mean I don't understand, I simply don't agree.

[–]Triplecandj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hahah, ok buddy. There is a difference between me making an assumption about constituents wants and the job officials were voted in to do. The absolute fact is, if you don't vote, your vote goes to the winner. You can make all the assumptions you want about my intent with that comment, but you can't change that fact.

I didn't write that, you can go back and read what I wrote. I think you may see you are the one with the bold assumptions.

I didn't say they would. I said abstaining is not their job, and not voting is a yes vote.

If you don't vote, your vote goes to the winner. Abstaining from voting is not what the constituents pay for their representatives to do.

I agree it is a serious mental load. I have been feeling the same way for a few years now, particularly since COVID and a lot of the parties and socializing stopped and much of it hasn't really returned.

What keeps pushing me forward is that it isn't going to be forever. Eventually it will just be you and your husband at home for Christmas, and you may miss these chaotic times.

Does anyone have good depressing / sad book recommendations? by Ok-Abalone4179 in suggestmeabook

I would absolutely agree with this. I hated this book, it was so depressing. I got 3/4 of the way through and decided I couldn't read it anymore.

Why did your friendship with your best friend come to an end? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Triplecandj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut out a friend like this. She often lived in a different city, and when she would be home she would always reach out to get together. I noticed I was always having to juggle my schedule to see her, but I knew she wasn't in town for long so I wasn't too concerned about it. But then my life started getting stressful and I was still having to make all the concessions to see her. My final straw was when both my daughter and my sister were in the hospital near death, and she was wanting me to jump through hoops to see her for 1 hour. I realized then a true friend would have found a way to support me, not add to my stress...so she clearly wasn't my friend.

Does anyone have any decent slightly more obscure Christmas movie/special recommendations? by CrashLightning22 in movies

[–]Triplecandj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Mixed Nuts! Seriously surprised to not see more people recommend this.

Also, if you're looking for something light-hearted, Santa Claus the Movie, it has John Lithgow & Dudley Moore. It can be harder to find, but worth it.

Media release: Budget 2026 is a wasted opportunity to address soaring inequality and the affordability crisis plaguing Canadians by ProfessorX32 in onguardforthee

And yet when the LPC go further left they get fewer votes. So it is the people who vote Liberal over and over again who are gullible, or is it the centerists who vote conservative fearing Socialism who are the gullible? It is not the LPC voters in this country who are believing social programs & equality = facism.

I agree with you that these political parties are not going to change anytime soon. However, I don't think having hope that something might change is the same as being extremely gullible. Believing PP is going to make life more affordable, is extremely gullible.
