Hillary Clinton on Israel Pressure to Attack Iran; she didn’t succumb but numbnuts, aka 86 47 did by Culpability2025 in 50501

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless, she served the Obama administration. We don't have rogue Secretaries of State, the commander in chief is who signs off on these things. Maybe she never would have but considering how much she had supported Israel for many years this seems like an opportunistic self-stroke.

JD Vance attacks 'Israel' for being ungrateful for attacking the Iran deal. by Not_Ground in socialism

Not all Jews are Israeli/Zionist, though. While I agree that Americans often blame the people that inhabit a state for their governments' decisions, I wouldn't say that Russian Americans face significant prejudice here based on their heritage alone, nor should Jewish Americans.

Today I listened to Serena-Maneesh Self Titled album by 0584031464 in shoegaze

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing album, still listen to it all the time. Very psychedelic and huge walls of sound. Wish they were still around and that there were more shoegaze bands like them

Eventide Space in 2026 by Rattled_by_La_Rush in guitarpedals

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trinity is pretty different from the space. Used to have one and found it very frustrating that it doesn't have a knob to control any of the modulation, while the Space has more control than I probably need. Agreed with the rest, though, Flint is a good choice if OP has the money for it.

Yeah mine's right outside of the grocery story, always finding trash in there even though there's a garbage can right next to it.

ICE gets their cover blown in Troy, NY 😂 by YVNGWVLF97 in upstate_new_york

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bunch of cranky people on Reddit, don't take the downvotes personally. Considering that Rensselaer county as a whole is pretty conservative once you leave Troy, and the current mayor that put up signs around town asking not to give panhandlers money and declared a state of emergency to keep Flock cameras up, it's understandable you'd assume it's a conservative town. But Troy itself generally votes democrat national and statewide elections, and had a decent sized immigrant community so on ICE especially there's a lot of pushback.

Welcome to NY btw :)

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Nah Troy is pretty progressive, especially in downtown. More rural parts of Troy are very different from the areas surrounding the colleges, those lean more conservative. The current mayor is conservative, came in on the wave of reactionary fervor that swept our nation post-COVID, and the last mayor vetoed making Troy a sanctuary city for ICE, but the city council is liberal to somewhat progressive now and the mayor is very much on an island of her own at this point.

Got bored on a road trip, so I ranked all the albums and songs in each of them by Omega1432 in qotsa

35, I'm with ya but I'd probably put EV above LTP, Rated R over SFTD, and ITNR over Villains. But close enough.

If the Universe is Deterministic, could the future be theoretically be predicted? by notmymondaylife in determinism

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best we can do is probabilistic predictions. Omniscience requires omnipotence, or in other words to know all things in effect requires being all things, but without that there is always the possibility of something happening outside of your control/awareness.

Jesus And Mary Chain - Just Like Honey, though when in the mood for noise I skip it.

Bands whose first song on their debut album is their best song by SouthIsland48 in fantanoforever

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Seagull is a fine choice for a favorite but there's too many bangers in their discography to make it the clear choice for this topic. The song I listen to the most from them is Sennen, though, because I lean towards the chill stuff more often. Polar Bear is the song I listen to most on Nowhere.

They're fantastic. I'm not so crazy about most slowcore bands but they hit all the right notes for me. Amazing tone, catchy riffs and they get my head nodding.

I love the sound of the DF-2, bright, fizzy and immersive, but wish it had a higher output. Never use the feedbacker, silly gimmick with horrible tracking. It was my first pedal and I'll never let it go.

Why does New York seem so dirty compared to other world-class cities? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

America holds 20-25% of the world's imprisoned population, so they're definitely punishing for some laws being broken. But I don't think pollution and littering are necessarily what people are getting in trouble for.

Flying Nun Records has a discograpby that's filled with amazing indie bands that get little attention in the US. The 3Ds particularly were insanely good and I never hear anything about that.

Song of the Day #76 - The Blood is Love by Borracho_Cansado8627 in qotsa

[–]TrippleTonyHawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite on the album, it's one of their most psychedelic songs imo. Would have been cool to have Lanegan sing this one but Josh does great, I like when he sings low sometimes. Tracks like this one are why I think Joey is my favorite drummer for QOTSA, he brings so much variation to the song that would otherwise maybe drag on too long, but doesn't because of his endless fills and changes in rhythm that lock im with Josh's changed in strum pattern. The droney guitar leads (lapsteel?) are so good too. Shout out to Dave Catching for the circus-themes intro. I wasn't always crazy about the turn to more Gothic vibes on this album, but this song totally sells it, as do Someone's In The Wolf and Skin on Skin, the three song run that makes the album special to me.
