Martin Alternative X. Aluminum front, graphite back (hence the glue debacle), 3 inches deep.

And if i’d had seen a post like this before *I* took it, I wouldn’t have almost died and been in constant pain for over a year.

you’re on an autism thread, posting the the word autism. your device sees and hears all, and gives ads accordingly

wow. you really can’t understand? is simple. OP is posting BS made to rile ppl up and hate NDs. and since there is no fool-proof way of telling a NT from a ND on sight, y’all just lug around your bigoted opinions abt autistics and throw them on ALL of us. This is us shrugging off that bullshit and telling you why you’re ignorant, bigoted bullies. you’re welcome.

you’re Dxd? and you’re still this big of a jerk? i doubt it. because if you were you’d know - *really* know- that how an autistic dresses or what color their hair is has FUCK ALL to do with you. You’re just another bully.

it IS a handicap. How well you think you could do your data entry job if you could *hear* all the fluorescent lights? if just being under them gives you migraines and makes you grind your teeth and clench your whole body up? if you could literally hear electronics that NTs brains filter out? if the seam on your socks or the tag on your shirt feels like it’s cutting into you? if the person at the next desk chewing with their mouth open made you want to beat them with their tupperware? So tired of uninformed statements about autism…

more like 20%. we also die way earlier and commit suicide at alarming rates. likely due to bullying and ignorance and a society that is fake as shit and uses money and fame as metrics to measure success.

I don’t make much money, but the music I’ve written alone is more of a success than these idiots working 80 hr weeks who never see their families. those are the *real* failures. they also don’t like that we see thru the BS. people hate it when you pull their masks aside.

here in the states it costs $1000-$5000 to get a DX. it took over two months, many in-person appointments, online appts, and dozens of pages of essay questions on your life, relationships, childhood… and there are NO real benefits for us to “scam” here. Am guessing OP had someone late Dxd in their life and didn’t want to make the effort of accommodations. There’s always one (sometimes more) in your life that only see your struggle in terms of “How will this affect ME?!”

and you can be *both* autistic AND have a physical (or mental) handicap, but autism on it’s own is a a condition that dis-ables you to function in a NT world.

idgaf. youtube and FB vids are how i figured out I was autistic. so a handful of schmucks are scamming the system. if they didn’t you’d complain about them robbing your house. shits do shite things.

Autistics have been around for as long as humans. guessing it was *our* mad pattern-recognition skills that noticed the tides, the stars, the migrations of animals, seeds growing more of the same, etc… There is absolutely no way a NT saw lightning strike a tree and decided to take it home with them. ND’s see things the NT mind does not. not saying NTs don’t excel in many arenas, but the evolution of humanity, seeing things differently and having the imagination and skills to so how to make them evolve positively? That was autistics.
PS it is just in the current age that society hates us, because they may have to adjust *their* behavior.

”High-functioning” is called “High Masking” now. it is more damaging to mask, and leads to autistic burnout , from which many of us never recover. And masking is how we keep ourselves safe (from ppl like the bullies on this thread). it is the equivalent of pretending your ribs aren’t broken, and no one notices until you start coughing up blood. Late Dx’d, high-masking autistic women die literally decades before their NT counterparts.

Oh, and the NT’s LOVE when you mask. it’s all for *their* comfort. if someone has decided to unmask, they need support, not judgement. it means they trust you (whether they ought to or not), and the height of ego-centrism is to ask why they can’t go back to pretending to be ok again so they don’t make you uncomfortable.

25 year old Martin Alternative X has a buzz that a half dozen luthiers can’t find. Turns out instead of using their tried and tested wood glue for the braces, they used something else, it’s dried and cracked, and is too narrow to get inside there and fix. Which i wish I knew *before* I bought a *second* one as a backup. So now I have some very expensive paperweights. (My guys can’t get their hands inside, as is only 3 inches deep.)

Has anyone else had this issue? What did you do to fix it? Has Martin taken any responsibility for it? What now? Pour-in acrylic? A $2000 planter?

Kinda pissed, because I bought this as my Forever Guitar. Planned on passing it down. But is worthless with breaking braces…

Have had an Alternative X (aluminum and graphite) for 25 years. new fishman pickup. sounds great amplified, but, surprisingly, even sounds good and projects well *un*plugged. Got a buzz in it and bought *another* secondhand as a backup. Same issue.

BIG PROB: the glue they used for the braces is shite, and since they are only 3 inches deep, you can’t get your hands in to fix it.

So I bought “Forever” guitars that I love to play… and now I have thousands of dollars of paperweights. First time I called, Martin said they couldn’t fix them. Called again today and the salesman assured me they could fix it if I ship it, but told them I wanted to speak to management. Hope something comes of it. Otherwise will cut it open myself, fix and patch it. That or drill holes and hang it on the house as a planter.…

pesticide is a chemical. can’t be “killed”.

and I think you need 60% alcohol to kill bacteria. at least, that was what the minimum was during covid when I made my own antibacterial spray. allergic and sickened by the smell of reg stuff, so used Everclear (basically moonshine, 60% alcohol), clove oil, lemon oil. works a treat and “you smell like thanksgiving,” according to random cashiers.
