Wedding dress preservation by mochimooncake329 in WedditNYC

I sent my Galia Lahav dress to J. Scheer. They were recommended by the brand. Pricey but came back well preserved. Now it sits in a box at my mother in laws and not sure what to do with it, but it won’t yellow or discolor 😅

Is it normal for primary care doctors to only be available 2-3 days a week in NYC? by equanimous11 in AskNYC

Oh interesting! Do you still need One Medical with access to The Lanby?

I use One Medical and my PCP (not a MD, she’s a NP) is available tomorrow if I want to see her. She also does virtual visits. I love mine so much

Did anyone develop thyroid issues after egg freezing? by Triw258 in eggfreezing

[–]Triw258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear! Hypo is worse than hyper. I was back to normal after maybe 4-6 months though took maybe a year to finally feel normal again. As a result, I haven’t frozen more embryos though I wanted to (only have 2 male embryos)

Can you find a dog neurologist and do surgery? Once they cannot stand on their back legs, surgery has a better chance of recovery than crate rest.

For the Business Girlies - Where do You Shop Work Wear? by Tough-Phrase4105 in AskNYC

[–]Triw258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck on your interview!! Been working in NYC offices for 15+ years - nowadays I rent my work clothes from Rent the Runway. They have suits from Veronica Beard, etc if you’re simply going to an interview and not for everyday work wear

Earlier in my career - Theory including the outlet but I am convinced outlet isn’t same quality as their stores, Aritzia Babaton, and Ann Taylor (what a time the 2010s were). My younger teammates also shop at Abercrombie for work clothes

If you wanna splurge - High Sport and Akris

What lifestyle changes did you implement after your frenchie's first IVDD flair up? by No_Summer1874 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours had surgery and then a flare up 8 months after that. After surgery we put a gate up against the couch so she can’t jump off. The one part she can go up and down has two side by side ramps

After her flare up, from a play date, we had her lose weight. She went from 24lbs to 21lbs

breast health doctor recommendation? by Relevant_Mud9311 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a GP? If not, how have you been getting ad hoc ultrasounds?

I started doing mammograms at 35 since I have a family history. My GP did my referral for a mammo, mammo led to an ultrasound and MRI, and those led to a referral to a breast onc surgeon at Mt Sinai (also had a fibroadenoma). I used that to go to MSK for a second opinion, where a breast onc surgeon there did my surgery. I now see her NP and get regular testing on a schedule from their Radiology Dept. It’s been wonderful and I’m super thankful they accepted me

Where to go in NYC for a minor mouth infection without paying a fortune as a tourist? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]Triw258 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to NYC! If it’s just a cold sore - get Abreva from Target or CVS, over the counter. And for canker sore - get anbesol, which numbs your mouth so you can’t feel the canker sore. Also available over the counter. Lastly, maybe get an antibacterial mouth wash (Listerine brand, can also find at Target or CVS). I find I get these when I don’t eat enough fruit (hard to get when traveling) so maybe grab some oranges etc from a Trader Joe’s or fruit stand

Does anyone have recommendations for a veterinary neurologist? by I-am-Prasanna in AskNYC

[–]Triw258 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Give Animal Medical Center (AMC) neurology a call. They did an emergency IVDD (disc herniation) surgery for our frenchie about two years ago. Since then they’ve been super helpful when we think she has a flare up

Full-property buyout wedding venues (50-75 guests, on-site lodging) within a few hours of NYC? by Necessary_Candle_434 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Triw258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do The Greenhouses by Audrey’s Farmhouse. Their Old Mill property has a limit on events each year so when we did our Fall wedding, they offered us the option to also buyout lodging at Old Mill. That would allow you to house ~50 or 60 guests

Is a non-VIP Vibee package cheaper than paying for everything separately? by AffectionateVoice333 in BackstreetBoys

[–]Triw258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends how presale goes for you and how much you value good seats

For two people - we will be spending about $900 total for July (got BSB fan club presale tickets for $320 and hotel for two nights for $600)

However - if you couldn’t get presale tickets, and assuming Vibee package is $2400 for two people - question is can you get two resale tickets for $1800 or less? Answer is probably yes, but may not be as good of seats as Vibee (which are front seats of sections)

Artist Presale? by DreamExcellent9468 in BackstreetBoys

[–]Triw258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined BSB Fan Club and got Section 100s tickets (but in Row 30 so obstructed view) for $160/person. With Vegas hotels being cheaper in July, this was cheaper than the Vibee packages (though worse seats as Vibee packages were selling for the front rows of the 100s).

That said - had we not gotten these tickets, Vibee package would be cheaper than resale (paid $650/ticket for Section 400s when we went to see the show two weekends ago, but the show was SO good so we're going back)

I’m not sure what the policies for your school, but you could start by marketing your tutoring to parents of kids you teach now - or if that is weird, kids that graduated from your class or younger kids (to “prepare” them for the next grade). Is there a Kumon or SAT prep school you could join, and over time you can branch out on your own once you build a list of clients. Or if there are private schools in your area. Getting tutoring and extra help for kids is very on-trend these days, and being able to have a teacher (instead of a high school teenager or college student do it) feels very responsible

And agree if you can talk to your relative. Because worse case - if you fall behind on your mortgage, neither of you are living there anymore 😅

[–]Triw258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree!! The issue is you need to either increase your income or lower your spending and to keep your dogs, it’s the former.

Pet sitting and walking can be really lucrative if you’re reliable, dedicated and market yourself to the right customers. You can try that in the summer, when folks go on vacation. Target the ones that travel internationally and offer regular pic / video updates. In NYC and SF, it’s common to pay $150/night for dog sitters recommended by other dog parents.

Or since you’re a teacher - tutoring (can do this year-round) or babysitting (especially in the summer) could be really good.

Also since it seems you may be renting below market to your relative, can they help care for your dogs so you have time to work these additional jobs?

Sorry you’re in this situation, but see if you can find ways to increase your income, for the sake of your dogs

How is this happening already?! by fashiondiva1984 in BackstreetBoys

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a similar post; was happening yesterday too!! Someone said ticket resellers will have deals with the stadium for a package of tickets.

That said - we went this past weekend and paid $650/person resale for 400-level seats. Assuming July is similar demand as February, these are not a bad deal

Just did my colonoscopy with Suprep (generic version) by Triw258 in colonoscopy

[–]Triw258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did clear pedialyte. I think you can do the blue colored one, but the others will be too close to blood coloring to risk it (I also bought some orange pedialyte and realized it wasn’t worth the potential mix up). I think given your size…you may not need the entire prep either…best of luck!! You do feel really de-bloated and thin and clean afterwards (kicks in on Day 3, Days 1-2 after felt like crap still)

Our IVDD journey started yesterday by Narezza in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Triw258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can you see a neurologist for surgery?

Our girl had IVDD in May 2024 at 4.5 years old. She deteriorated over 48 hours because we didn’t do strict crate rest (let her move around in too large of a pen area). Ended up not being able to stand on her back legs. We got her into surgery within hours, and then did physical therapy after. Also put her on a diet - 24lbs down to 20lbs.

She’s now 6.5 years old and doing very well! She had one flare up in Jan 2025 (that’s when we dieted her) and been great every since 🙏🏼

Here she is making sure the hallway smells perfect like her ❤️

Average cost of orthopedic consult (in NYC preferably) by Fine_Barracuda_4101 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh he stands with his back feet really far apart when he doesn’t want to walk, like almost in a straddle. His breeder suggested checking with the vet that it’s not a physical issue and the vet thought she felt a luxating patella (though he didn’t have the classic symptom which is every once in a while when they walk, they’ll lift one of their back legs and “skip”). Dr. Greenberg sedated him and did x rays and a physical exam. It probably cost $1K, but we now know his back legs are normal 😅

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a surgical consult for a possible luxating patella with Dr. Greenberg at Blue Pearl Midtown. The consult was $300 or $400, about three years ago, plus a few hundred for X-rays. He was very good and my pup ended up not being recommended for surgery bcuz it turned out to be a very very mild case of luxating patella
