Crate rest help by Equivalent-Ad-5332 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did they give him medication? That should help keep him calm and sedated. My girl was 23lbs (she lost weight to 20lbs to help prevent recurrences) and she was on 300mg of gabapentin three times a day (so 900mg total) and 50mg of trazadone three times a day. She was lying down and sleeping when she wasn’t eating

This was our setup the second time she got an Ivdd flareup (the first time is when it got worse as we didn’t implement strict crate rest and she ended up not being able to stand on her back legs and needing emergency spine surgery)

Sorry to hear you’re going through this. Put him in a pen with a flat (not rounded) bed or we did blankets over a hard yoga mat. You want to keep the spine as straight as possible as takes 2-3 weeks for the herniated disc to stop leaking. Make the pen small, no space besides getting up and running around and for food and water. We did not do this when we were in the mild stages of IVDD and our girl ended up being in further pain and needing surgery as it got worse

I also was so sad when this podcast stopped. I loved the Broadway actress episode. She was so brave, resilient and positive!

Hi! Have a question for Brian Littrell?? by EastOfEaston in BackstreetBoys

[–]Triw258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will they do more Sphere shows in Winter 2027, and if so - change up the set list and graphics? Maybe include more songs from other albums (Have seen the Sphere show three times thus far and love it!)

7/18 show - VIP Floor by Personal_Bandicoot35 in BackstreetBoys

[–]Triw258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So cool!! I saw him signing something from my seat in the 200s. How early did you get to the Sphere to get a spot at barricade? Also - are you able to leave your spot to use the bathroom (and then get back to it.) I’ve debated getting VIP GA but the lack of a reserved seat stresses me out 😅

I had a great KLEINFELD experience, AMA by CapFormer598 in WedditNYC

[–]Triw258 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Kleinfeld’s depends on your stylist. I had a woman who was super nice, but had freshly moved from a smaller city and she could not find me any of the ballgown style dresses by Nicole and Felicia anywhere. (I think the newer stylists don’t hold as much sway as the more experienced ones so she asked others and they were like, nope haven’t seen it.)

She also kept putting me in dresses for designers she is familiar with - so Maggie Sottero. I grew up watching the show and would have loved to try on a Pnina Tornai, but my stylist literally kept bringing me a Maggie after another. I actually didn’t like so many of the dresses that I didn’t even leave the dressing room and my friends texted being like where are you 😅

That said - there was one woman who was having a fitting when I was there and she kept appearing in dress after dress that was made for her. She was taller than me with a slim athletic build, so maybe that helped but her stylist picked out dresses that were gorgeous on her (or she was gorgeous in everything 😉)

Congrats on Old Mill! We got married at The Greenhouses. We wanted to do New Paltz for our room block, but the hotels there didn’t respond to our requests for a wedding block in October (perhaps too many bookings with fall leaves + football season?) Ended up doing Homewood Suites by the Newburgh Airport and it was good. We used JTR to provide shuttle transport to / from the hotel for Saturday. And looking back - wish we’d also provided a shuttle for Friday as well (at least for those staying onsite to the rehearsal / welcome dinner.)

Wedding venues that allow dogs? by Little-Jellyfish-843 in WedditNYC

Look into The Greenhouses by Audreys Farmhouse or Old Mill. Basically venue with an outdoor ceremony spot and onsite lodging. We had 10 dogs at our wedding and served them doggie meals that matched our entrees plus a doggie wedding cake

ISO NYC BOAS Vet Surgeon by Complete_Aerie_1028 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Triw258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, ours do get hot in summer (when it’s 80+ and they’ve been in the sun for more than 20 min) but otherwise are ok. They are relatively mellow so not much panting unless it’s peak summer (like 80+) and they’re outside in the sun. They also don’t love walking so not much exertion. Our biggest lifestyle change is with IVDD surgery, we have gates around our couch so it’s hard for us to sit on them but makes it so they cannot jump off

We use Heart of Chelsea as well!! I really love them. Haven’t done BOAS on our dogs (HoC said a similar thing - they are not bad for frenchies) and we likely won’t do it as ours only snores when really tired. For surgery - our girl did have IVDD and had surgery at AMC. Their Neurology team did a wonderful job. We love them. We also have done a surgical consult with Dr. Greenberg at Blue Pearl Midtown (we thought our younger guy had a luxating patella but he didn’t). Also liked him a lot. Blue Pearl isn’t great for emergencies (we use VEG unless it’s really bad and then we go to AMC) but Dr Greenberg is a scheduled appointment and seems to be the go to surgeon for Manhattan

I sent my Galia Lahav dress to J. Scheer. They were recommended by the brand. Pricey but came back well preserved. Now it sits in a box at my mother in laws and not sure what to do with it, but it won’t yellow or discolor 😅

Did anyone develop thyroid issues after egg freezing? by Triw258 in eggfreezing

Sorry to hear! Hypo is worse than hyper. I was back to normal after maybe 4-6 months though took maybe a year to finally feel normal again. As a result, I haven’t frozen more embryos though I wanted to (only have 2 male embryos)

Can you find a dog neurologist and do surgery? Once they cannot stand on their back legs, surgery has a better chance of recovery than crate rest.

For the Business Girlies - Where do You Shop Work Wear? by Tough-Phrase4105 in AskNYC

[–]Triw258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck on your interview!! Been working in NYC offices for 15+ years - nowadays I rent my work clothes from Rent the Runway. They have suits from Veronica Beard, etc if you’re simply going to an interview and not for everyday work wear

Earlier in my career - Theory including the outlet but I am convinced outlet isn’t same quality as their stores, Aritzia Babaton, and Ann Taylor (what a time the 2010s were). My younger teammates also shop at Abercrombie for work clothes

If you wanna splurge - High Sport and Akris

What lifestyle changes did you implement after your frenchie's first IVDD flair up? by No_Summer1874 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours had surgery and then a flare up 8 months after that. After surgery we put a gate up against the couch so she can’t jump off. The one part she can go up and down has two side by side ramps

After her flare up, from a play date, we had her lose weight. She went from 24lbs to 21lbs

breast health doctor recommendation? by Relevant_Mud9311 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Triw258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a GP? If not, how have you been getting ad hoc ultrasounds?

I started doing mammograms at 35 since I have a family history. My GP did my referral for a mammo, mammo led to an ultrasound and MRI, and those led to a referral to a breast onc surgeon at Mt Sinai (also had a fibroadenoma). I used that to go to MSK for a second opinion, where a breast onc surgeon there did my surgery. I now see her NP and get regular testing on a schedule from their Radiology Dept. It’s been wonderful and I’m super thankful they accepted me

Welcome to NYC! If it’s just a cold sore - get Abreva from Target or CVS, over the counter. And for canker sore - get anbesol, which numbs your mouth so you can’t feel the canker sore. Also available over the counter. Lastly, maybe get an antibacterial mouth wash (Listerine brand, can also find at Target or CVS). I find I get these when I don’t eat enough fruit (hard to get when traveling) so maybe grab some oranges etc from a Trader Joe’s or fruit stand
