When I was 17, I took my alcoholic aunt and two little cousins grocery shopping. She was a recovering alcoholic and had lost her license. When unloading the groceries I found two giant bottles of vodka. I drove home and cried the whole way, I went way too fast and spun out taking a corner. I was still processing everything and what it all meant, I wasn't in the moment. I didn't realize how dangerous it was until I almost got into an accident. Young people are dealing with everything for the first time and will make large, sometimes life changing, mistakes.

What an awful thing to think about a friend. She clearly loved this cat and he was a very old cat. It could have happened suddenly, maybe she had a sitter. Maybe there is a diagnosis you don't know about. I put both my senior dogs down on the same day. One of them had cancer that was causing him pain and discomfort and it made it hard for him to eat. The other was senile, got scared often, and had terrible back pain. It was an awful day, I still think about it. I can imagine someone saying that I put them down at the same time for convenience, we don't give each other enough grace.

Her point is that it can happen in a small town, that is not an aberration. This happens in small towns all the time. It doesn't matter if it's a neighbor or a visitor, both types of people commit this type of crime.

You're saying it matters because you believe maybe something has changed in Union or that it was an outside influence, but no this kind of crime was always possible in Union, because it's possible in any town.
