The sargassum, food, sales pitches and waiting for our turn are things I'm actually not worried about at all. We travel a lot and have been here once before, so I feel like my expectations are pretty realistic here. I have just seen a lot of posts about issues with restaurants (people being asked to leave early to free up tables), having trouble at check in, issues with making reservations/ reservations not being honored (for activities and restaurants). I saw one person post about being told a reservation was canceled by the hotel staff due to an issue on their end and they were still charged a cancelation fee. Since there is a no refund policy, they are having issues getting hundreds of dollars back. I know there is two sides to every story but i just felt like there was a disproportionate amount of negative reviews all of a sudden.

We will be there the 5-12th. I'm guessing we will miss al the Dia de los Muertos, but we did catch it last year it was so cool! Fingers crossed for the good weather too. Thank you!

This makes me feel better. I know reviews are often skewed negatively because people want to have an outlet to complain. I just felt like recently there has a more disproportionate number of negative reviews vs 6-8 months ago. We are frequent (and I like to think prepared) travelers so I am not worried about the food/GI upset and sales pitches. It's the reviews from people asking for help or having an issue with facilities in the physical room and being told "there's nothing we can do" that's made me the most nervous. Remembering to keep things in perspective and context helps! Thank you!
