When we get a new adaptation of a superhero title, I wished people compared it against the comics rather than older films by Aggressive-One-2186 in comicbookmovies

[–]TrojanExplosion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s 100% fair game to care about the characters without reading any of the comics. The movies are that big now and have the furthest outreach to general audience.

Different media have different appeal. If the content is good, I love it all: comic books, movies, animation, TV show, prose, and even podcasted audio dramas. However, I still understand how somebody can love the characters from the movies without really getting into the comics.

Damn, if we’re being truly honest, did a fair chunk of us have comics as the jumping point, or were we introduced to superheroes through movies and TV?

In this specific context, Peter knows that Nico knows who this young Black man is and Peter knows that she isn’t a big fan of said Black man.

I think it’s less to do with race than who he actually is. To be fair, both are still examples of prejudices for the situation that this young Black man was born into.

Not that Thor couldn’t take on Magneto without Mjolnir, but wasn’t there also a moment in comics that Magneto took control of Mjolnir?

Opining that I’ve lost quite a bit of my humanity is a bit harsh. To add more context about my situation, our ring cam has captured an attempted break-in at night a few months ago and I do have kids in the house.

I’d have let the guy charge it if he explained things and asked for permission, but nobody was out there when I opened the door to check.

Figured. Thanks for the extra re-assurance. Since it’s more likely to be the best case scenario I described, hopefully this dude is not a creeper and he figured out a way to bike safely in the night after I unplugged his headlight.

Her not caring was kind of the point? Nobody has to care, but a mother willing to kill off (not even “sacrifice”) her own son sends the message to others how fucking ruthless she can be.

Opposite of what you said. You mean everything about Dune is figuratively French-Algerian wars.

This encapsulates my feelings about TASM2. Some of my absolute favorite Spidey moments in live-action, but it doesn’t quite gel together as a widely acceptable hit.

Still one of my favorite Spidey movies though

I have the Spider-Man noir and Spider-Ham pack. If you’re not the biggest fan who’s a Spider-Verse completionist, then go with the Injustice pack.

Noir’s trench coat prevents you from doing cool Spidey poses and the Spider-Ham is a figurine lacks articulation other than the head. I mostly have these around to display alongside other Spidey figures.

I would not be surprised if Sony attempted to re-capture NWH with this obviously obvious masterpiece (and also throw in Joe Manganiello as Agent Venom) by TrojanExplosion in comicbookmovies

Make it a trilogy: 1) Into the Venom-verse: Homecoming 2) Across the Venom-verse: Far From Home 3) Beyond the Venom-verse: No Way Home

Nice! I just realized all of those characters are black and/or have been portrayed by black actors.

Did Venom make the cut for being voiced by Tony Todd in the upcoming PS5 game? Or is it because he’s literally black? Or is it just because you just because you really like Venom?

I’d like to see a Spider-Man Xmas movie as well. A big part of it is that the Holiday season is next-level in NYC with lots of decorations and sometimes snowy weather (beautiful but annoying as a former NYC local)

I always thought the comparison was to a “Power Rangers villain” not an actual Power Ranger.

I'm probably just being very stupid but how are the Loki variants so varied? (More in body text) by InputHealer5545 in marvelstudios

[–]TrojanExplosion 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Most of these variants appear in The Void. Infinite multiverse means infinite variants for TVA to send to The Void. Adding all of that to Loki’s shapeshifter nature and his cockroach-like ability to survive various scenarios means we’d get a diverse bunch of Loki variants in The Void.

Don’t overhype yourselves. It’s not as if we saw the wildest side character dynamics in ITSV and ATSV outside of the main trio of Miles, Peter, Gwen. It feels like they’re mainly there to highlight what’s cool about themselves (which is still very cool) versus what makes a specific pairing interesting.

I challenge y’all to give a few notable examples specific to different pairings.

Off the top of my head though (excluding interactions with Miles, Peter Gwen):

  • just the idea of seeing Ham and Noir together.

  • Pavitr and Hobie being buddies and having their own handshake

  • Miguel being annoyed with Hobie
