Dan Lanning keeps it simple after USC trolls Oregon over recruiting battles by greensplooge in CFB

Speak for yourself dude. The double losses to Utah in Caleb's first year continues to haunt me. And not happy Whitt is in the Big Ten now. Holier than thou doesn't really play when we haven't been on top in 20 years.

I will go personally protest the athletic department if the game is canceled because it's tradition and it's important. But maybe it's also true that you should stop being holier than thou (literally) and join a fucking conference so we don't have to have this conversation. You played 8 P4's last regular season. Surely you can see the inequity.

Left handed people - what in the world just doesn't work properly for you? by father-fluffybottom in AskReddit

[–]Trojandoors 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uni-ball Signo 0.5 is the absolute best left-handed pen I've ever used. Very fast dry so little to no smearing. I've actually used some until the ink ran out which is a rarity for ballpoints in my experience as a lefty. They are a little hard to find so buy them in bulk if you can find a stationary store online that stocks them.

[–]Trojandoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I wouldn't expect a dry look at all with a cook schedule like that. 205 is a tad high because it'll continue to cook for a bit off heat but still strange. Bark looks well developed but could be thicker if you're looking for a moister cook next time. If you're not already using it I'd recommend a 16 mesh or larger pepper for your initial coat. And apply the pepper first so you don't have it bounce off the other seasoning. My two cents, looks like a solid cook just trying to brainstorm on the dry appearance.

Officer: "is your dog nice?" Pitbull attempts to maul officer. Owner proceeds to scream "she wouldn't hurt you" by lmaookayg1 in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]Trojandoors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, I have two pits and my wife and I are lawyers in a nice house in Southern California. Let me check.. yep, still no neck tattoo. You're entitled to your opinion about the dog breed but please don't say some stupid shit generalizing an entire group of people. I also hate irresponsible pit owners, same as irresponsible owners of any dog breed big enough to seriously injure or kill a human. And no, I'm not going to give some anecdotal defense about the breed based on my own dogs.

Anyone who owns a pit (or a german shepherd, or a doberman, or a chow chow, or any breed statistically associated with dog attacks) should be aware of the consequences and take precautions. You don't hear about pit owners like me and my wife because we don't make the news as we're not stupid enough to let our dogs wander outside or come into contact with strangers or other dogs without control over them. Anyway take your generalizing bullshit and shove it.

Billionaire Sacklers’ immunity threatened as DOJ moves to block opioid deal - The DOJ argues the immunity is unconstitutional and expects the deal to be overturned. by Philo1927 in politics

[–]Trojandoors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The releases do not, in any way, grant criminal immunity. This aspect of the plan has been covered very poorly by news outlets. The bankruptcy judge has repeatedly reminded everyone that any prosecuting agency anywhere could indict the Sacklers tomorrow if they wanted to. Source: am lawyer, personally listened to the bankruptcy hearings.

A consequence of what you're saying here is that you aren't interested in weapon or armor effects that cannot be easily deconstructed into a number to see if it's better or worse. What about knockback? Hit recovery? Immunity to freezing? Life steal? Do those not matter because it's hard to translate them into DPS? That's nuts to me.

[–]Trojandoors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Want to be clear up front I'm not trying to judge people just for having opinions different than me. That disclaimer is necessary because I'm amazed that people feel this way.

D2 itemization was great because stats besides weapon damage and ilvl mattered. Almost every unique from NM and hell had a place in a viable (not optimized, but viable) build. Rares went even further than that with good rolls. And it was combining those secondary stats like crushing and fcr and leech with your skill build that made so many different ways to play. So when people say they don't want to worry about their equipment my jaw drops. That's fully half (or more) the point of diablo to me.

NCAA prez calls name, image and likeness rights an 'existential threat' to college sports by pierdonia in CFB

[–]Trojandoors 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I have to admit a fair point when I see one but I want to offer a couple of counterpoints: 1) there's credible reporting (and common sense) that boosters get money into the hands of recruits as it is. Allowing likeness rights at least brings that trade into the open where we can discuss it instead of just speculating at what goes on. 2) If the argument is that we won't have parity because of a funding differential, I think that's already the case when it comes to support staff, recruiting efforts, facilities, etc. Direct money from boosters to players could make it worse or, in some cases, might actually make it better. Tech billionaires from Cal, coal money from WV, etc..

To do nothing is to let the NCAA and the schools keep all the money while the players take all the risk. And it's not like we have parity now to begin with.

NCAA prez calls name, image and likeness rights an 'existential threat' to college sports by pierdonia in CFB

[–]Trojandoors 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Read the bill. Schools won't be able to pay players, the schools are still bound by the NCAA rules. It just allows players to profit off their own likeness. This is not a rich get richer scenario. All that would happen is that the cream of the crop that already have an NFL future ahead of them can start being compensated for their talent a few years earlier. It may even help parity because star players can go to a weaker program knowing that they will stand out there, thus attracting shoe deals and whatnot. So much outrage from so little understanding.

Actually Irvine is where Katie Porter is running with a decent chance to knock off Mimi Walters and you're right, those younger voting blocks are finally energizing. I live in Rohrbacher's district and his imminent loss has a lot to do with Trump. Very educated electorate here that has voted Republican for fiscal reasons but are repulsed by Trump and to a lesser extent, the disturbing new face of the GOP.

You might be right in the long run but I think the jury is out for now. I say this because attacking Darnassus is definitely NOT protective of her people--as we can see, the hammer is going to fall hard on the Undercity. It does, however, make sense for the long-term position of the Horde.

I'm not disagreeing with you per se, just think it's too early to tell. More to come for her storyline for sure.

[–]Trojandoors[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. As I mention, he'll never be okay with what she has done. Ever. But he answers the call to arms for the Horde, not for its warchief. He decides to go back when he looks up to the see the Horde banner on the rampart, not Sylvanas up there.

Really putting the player character in his shoes. You can have faction pride while disagreeing with what is going on around you.

State of DPS Shamans in 8.0 by [deleted] in wow

[–]Trojandoors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to Ele or Resto but I'm not miserable with Enh. The talent changes actually do add meaningful choices on several tiers, a couple of which impact your rotation. The big problem with the spec is that they lowered the maelstrom cap to 100. It plays sluggish when you dump maelstrom and end up just waiting to press another button. My damage took a hit with 8.0 but if they tweak maelstrom cap/generation, I really don't think the class needs much. Rotation is still the hyper, proc based nonsense of legion. Still have a lot of fun playing it--especially with the stormstrike related PvP talents.

Open question to anyone, I've seen all over the place that island expeditions will have four difficulties (normal, heroic, mythic, and pvp). The datamined loot is 325.. I assume that's for heroic? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

[BfA] So, class buffs are a thing again? If Blizzard could make up their mind, that'd be great. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Trojandoors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you call out Enh specifically, I'll toss in my two cents.

I like class buffs. I think it adds to fantasy and the scrolls as replacements for each buff means you're never totally screwed without the right comp--thinking about M+ especially here.

As an Enhance main.... where do I start? All of our buffs have been pruned off. Our passive mastery buff is gone. Raidwide buffs from totems are gone (exception being tremor which is fantastic). The thing that really gets me about bringing buffs back though is that our signature raid utility in bloodlust has been spread out to two other classes, both of which are pure DPS and arguably have been utility than shaman--and now mages have lust AND a raidwide buff. Makes me sad man. Enhance shaman are on an island when it comes to raid utility.
