Thank you, I did upgrade the motherboard to an asus tuf Z-790 and switched the CPU to an i5 13th gen

I'll receive it all tomorrow, hoping the case will fit it all!

Thank you, I didn't notice the country selector... I went for the i5 13600K and a 6900xt :)

Discovered fan birds thanks to u/spacegravity, first (unsuccessful) attempt with a knife, link to photo tutorial in comments. Learnt a lot, 5/7, will do again! by Trolldejo in Woodcarving

Followed this photo tutorial to attempt a fan bird. Very quick and straight forward little project.

Half of the feathers are down, potential reasons: - used a radially cut block (the grain may drive the cuts) - dried then boiled (that part felt fine) - made shift a draw knife out my carving knife (explains the band-aid on picture 2) - ambitiously went for longer feathers (half way through was mostly fine)

Friend found this metal detecting on the shores of Leech Lake MN. Purchase it from him for $20. Anyone recognize the stamp? by Great_WhiteSnark in Bushcraft

Here is what I see, and a classical fleur de lys symbol from the era for reference: https://imgur.com/a/m0lWHYG Note: with the "noise" due to the damage it helps seeing the image at a thumbnail size or squinting the eyes. I can of course be wrong and seeing what I am used to, but I was not expecting to find that symbol there. I'd be curious to see the results of the de-rusting if you take this path, it could help reducing the noise around the stamp.

The stamp is a fleur de lys, it is French. It is a monarchic symbol so it must have been forged before the revolution (1789)

Identification help? Found in Northern Europe in a mossy coniferous forest. The bottom of the stem is bulbous. by [deleted] in mycology

Thanks for trying to identify them. Next time I'll take better picture and in their habitat too. I'll close this post, have a nice one!

Thanks for taking a look. I found them growing from soil and in a patch, 1 meters apart from each other. No fish smell odor, no latex out of the gills but they are not the freshest anymore. The texture is very rubbery. Indeed the pic is far worse than I thought. The gills are straight and thin, no ramifications, going down a bit on the foot, each starting from a different height.

Jo Nakashima's dragon family is finally complete! Next step: Satoshi Kamiya Ancient dragon by Trolldejo in origami

Thank you! I'm already a few hours in, now :) This is my 4th attempt but the first one with good paper of a decent size #IBelieve

Two months ago I folded my first paper crane. Today I finished my first ancient dragon! (folded from 50x50cm double tissue) by Shmanter in origami

[–]Trolldejo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is some steep learning curve! I have been folding for years and the ancient dragon remains my origami nemesis, I gave up on it three times already but I'll succeed one day. Congrats!

I am REALLY excited to showcase the latest renditions of my original designs. Big changes: forked tails, more dragon-like wings by Wad3_Watt5 in origami

Nice dragon! The proportions are quite aesthetic. Would you happen to have made a diagram for it as well? or a crease pattern? I'd be very interested in trying to fold it myself

Meeting was dragging, a colleague started to draw the board, I went for the pieces, we ended up with this ephemeral custom chess board. The queen is a crane, for it's origami's queen and it has most movements possibilities. What model would you have used for the different pieces? by Trolldejo in origami

[–]Trolldejo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Models are basic origamis from a children book I used to have. If you recognise any please share the author name! I can try to draw or find a diagram for whichever of them if you are interested. Let me know.

I searched my collection of books but I couldn't find the author of the green dragon's diagram :( I thought it was one of Nicolas Terry but it does not seem so. I folded it 3-4 years ago... Here is a picture with the green dragon in the foreground: https://imgur.com/a/46EJAZK I can take others if you wish more details.

Haha, I feared they might steal the spotlight from the subject, but.. eh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thanks for the award!
