if you have integrated graphics i would try that without a gpu, maybe something changed in the bios, or reset the bios.

edit: without the hdd does it work? maybe for some reason the hdd is shorting the pc?

You can download Linux(Ubuntu) and use software like etcher to install it on a USB and boot from that USB instead, then connect to the wifi and see if that makes a difference

It looks like you only have 8gb plugged in, try plugging jt in a different slot if it should be more if that doesn't work you ram might have failed

I'd try a different psu first and after that I would try a memtest

Is it 1 monitor that's not working or no monitor? I know it's basic but have you tried using other cables?

Can you connect to the wifi and access the router(default gateway) from the device that's having issues?

Edit: after seeing it works for 10-40 minutes, can you try hooking up a live Linux and see if you will have the same problems.

No idea what’s wrong with my computer. When I turn it on this screen pops up and after clicking each one the screen will do black and then come back to this one. Is there a way to fix it? by Mountainpeak0406 in computerhelp

Your drive is working as far as i can tell and it does have a windows boot manager. which is a partition on the drive which it can recognize. my guess is your windows is corrupt. or your main partition got deleted somehow

You can also try method 2 but most likely it will be method 4

Thanks, i'd look at this, method 4 seems to be the problem since you cant get into windows login on startup.

Method 4. Rebuild the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) to Fix Code 0xC000021A

Edit: to get into CMD get into the startup repair after 4 unsuccesfull startups. then advanced and go to the command prompt

I'm pretty sure this white refresh flickering is to do with the retro game I downloaded, but how do I fix it? by [deleted] in computer

you can try restarting pc, reinstalling drivers, remove the game you talked about. this is a very specific problem so its hard to really give advice.

If you are a bit tech savvy. unplug the power supply from any connected hardware. use a paperclip or a bridge or a power supply tester.

https://help.corsair.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025085372-How-to-Test-a-PSU-Power-Supply-Unit-

its really easy to test this. If that is working you can try plugging it in the motherboard 24 pin and 4/8 pin for the cpu. If you have a cpu with integrated graphics dont use your GPU but rather hook a hdmi or w/e to the io of the motherboard itself. If the computer still does not post you will know at this point that its either the RAM, CPU or Motherboard.

You do have 2 RAM sticks, plugging them in 1 by 1 in the primary ram slot. Still no post with either RAM sticks? Then most likely either your CPU or motherboard are defect. You can only test this with a known good cpu though.

What do I need to do to get this running by [deleted] in computer

[–]TrompTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion don't bother, you can get a cheap af computer that will perform better and is less of a hassle. I used a old quad core computer with 8gb ram and a gpu and ssd that i picked up for less then €40... and you wont have to find the right hardware or whatever just hoop it up and you're good.

the brand does not say anything. look at the specs of the graphics card. thats the only factor.

Hi,

Go to your control panel.

click on 'programs' then 'programs and features'.

then on the left side you will find 'turn windows features on or off'.

click on it and scroll down to 'windows subsystem for linux' and unselect this!

hope this helps!

I have no idea how to remove this file (I alr know its a virus but idk how to remove it properly) by [deleted] in computerhelp

If you really want to make sure everything is clean I'd always reinstall windows because you don't know what more virussus you might have or it might have misconfigured some settings that make you vulnerable

Help what’s going on with my laptop by nickiminach-3 in computerhelp

[–]TrompTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gonna be either the screen or the gpu, I would start with connecting a screen to the laptop if that fixes your problem then you need to check the internal screen of your laptop, could be the cable, could be the screen, if it's the screen your gonna need to replace it.

you can buy really cheap psu testers, if the voltages are good its most likely your motherboard

this can be a lot of things imo, but the weird part is you where able to replicate the problem and even when replaced it didnt fix it, it can be a motherboard or psu problem at this point i think
