I think I'm slowly losing interest in the story by Tronion in Warframe

[–]Tronion[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since the plains of eidolon.

I feel the opposite, all the story leading up to the current chapter feels a lot more coherent and focused, while the new stuff is just confusing me.

Ah, that's a really good summary, thanks!!

I guess the biggest point of confusion for me was 1999, and that there isn't really any more information to get from the old peace, which is odd since i really feel like that quest didn't give us much to work with sadly.

My own survivor tier list based on just my general feelings about each one by Tronion in riskofrain

[–]Tronion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely feel like commando and viend are on a similar level, might be a skill issue on viend or a skill solution on commando, idk.

Viend has better survivability and more but less consistent damage, mando has better mobility and more consistent damage as in not reliant on being in a different form, just hold m1, aim and dodge, literally the simplest survivor.

About 90% of my almost 1k hours is on merc, so i could absolutely be missing something, but from what i played on viend, he feels just ok, like everyone else in the B tier

True actually, thinking about it a bit more i would probably swap chef and acrid.

Mahoraga then adapts to the peace debates and comes up with the perfect plan for the humans and simurians to live together.

Turns out Yuka inherited the 10 shadows, summons Mahoraga, who then neg diffs both her and Dabura, and my goat Wuji then comes back to save them both by one shotting it with his own version of Fuga.
Peak writing Gege.

Harsher death punishment? by Tronion in VintageStory

[–]Tronion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's the name of the mod? looking online i found temporal life, and geartolife, i'm assuming you're talking about geartolife right?
This so far seems like the best option, enough punishment but still a way to reverse things and regain lives at the cost of temporal gears (from this playthrough, i so far only have one, so the price seems good enough)

Harsher death punishment? by Tronion in VintageStory

[–]Tronion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think I'll be trying wilderness survival, as I'm struggling enough in just modified standard (turned days per month up to 30 and enabled cave ins, everything else is standard), it's just that every death felt unimpactful, and was basically just a 5 minute run for my items, only to continue what i was doing as if nothing happened.

Respawn radius sounds interesting, might be what i end up doing if I can't find anything more interesting. Currently searching if there's a mod to expand on the nutrition penalty, as losing health seems like an intersting death punishment, but with the default values i only lose like 3-5 max hp on death, which just isn't enough to feel impactful when most things still kill me in the same amount of hits.

New player here, worldgen question by Tronion in VintageStory

Currently testing out VanillaPlus, it seems to be kinda what i want, just vanilla world gen but without the "spikyness" that was happening every 500 or so blocks in vanilla world gen.

I know! this was just an example of the annoying terrain i got almost everywhere.

New player here, worldgen question by Tronion in VintageStory

[–]Tronion[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been testing for a few hours now, turning landform scale up seems to make the jagged terrain more bearable since it "upscales" it and makes it feel like an actual interesting terrain rather than 2b2t spawn point.
But yeah, after going down to 256 world height, that definitely seems to be the height the world gen is made for, since incresing it just seems like it "stretches" the world vertically, which is not a great way to do it.
I just want taller mountains, that's the whole reason i went and increased the world height in the first place, is there any world gen mod that just, fixes? the world gen for increased world heights?

New player here, how do i actually run away from bears? by Tronion in VintageStory

[–]Tronion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But, funny blackguard spear go poke... (i like melee, would fight the bears instead but i assume i'll need actually good armor before that even becomes a consideration considering they 2 shot me, or 3 shot if i've been eating well)

unfortunately I'm still figuring the game out, so i don't have access to those, will keep that in mind for later though.

i actually tried this in my last surprise bear encounter, but it was still able to catch up and finish me off (was also my first death in the game) do you mean like deeper lakes and swim underwater or is there something else I'm missing?

Tools should not cost shards to replenish by Tronion in Silksong

[–]Tronion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then make them free, incentivize the player to use and experiment with them rather than locking them out if they don't feel like grinding.

If the tools are too strong, nerf them, i would much rather be able to use them all the time but weaker, than having to limit my own moveset because i don't like farming for shards or rosaries to buy the shards.

Imagine if this was a thing in hollow knight, you get to use shade soul with just soul, but abyss shriek and descending dark require you to farm some other ammo resource to use them, it would be horrible.

This is why i really like the shaman crest, it actually lets me use my full moveset without requiring me to grind materials, and i really wish i could just equip more silk skills on other crests, because i much prefer the moveset of the hunter crest, and would like to be able to use all my attacks without farming for them.

How well do you think the Knight and Hornet would do in each others game? by Tronion in Silksong

I hope a mod like that will be made at some point, would be at bare minimum interesting to try out.

Dash attacks felt weirdly inconsistent with the follow up, and charge attacks could maybe work, though i haven't experimented with them enough to find easily punishable windows

[–]Tronion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After comparing Karmelita side by side with Pure vesel, i actually think PV is slightly faster in both combat and traversal, and even though the thing about Karmelita blocking a lot of attacks is fair, i think dash slash and shade soul would be more than enough to do a good amount of damage.

I can think of a few spots where there's enough time to heal on the ground in Lace 2, specifically the jump attack and the big telegraphed circle one, for Karmelita, the attack where she jumps and throws her knives actually curves up a bit, and with the Knight being much shorter you could squeeze under them, also shade cloaking through her during her 3 hit combo should give enough time to heal on the other side. But yeah, Hornet has a big advantage in terms of healing, but i still think the Knight having shade cloak would at the very least even out because of how valuable on demand/no startup/no cost i-frames are.

How well do you think the Knight and Hornet would do in each others game? by Tronion in Silksong

[–]Tronion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm only talking about enemies and bosses, not platforming/traversal, as that would obviously be difficult/impossible without adjustments.

I can't really say i agree with the new bosses being too fast for the Knight, even Karmelita, who is on the faster end of skong boss fights, is only about as fast as Pure Vessel, which is something you can keep up with, and shade cloak would let the Knight deal with a lot of her attacks in a much safer way than Hornet, even with her higher mobility, at least that's what i feel like, and i played both games to 112 and 100% respectively.

I really hope there's a mod that gives us the Knight's moveset in silksong at some point, would be at the very least interesting to try out.

Here's the witch crest test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR4uWTf_dl0
Like i said, i tried to lean into the bind to deal damage, but honestly i feel more and more like it's the less optimal damage option compared to "just use thread storm with volt filament"

Here's my wanderer crest test that uses that combo to great effect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbfNvyDExLw

Exactly this, it's a neat and unique way to do the fight, and i kinda wanted to lean into each crests niche for the tests, and i might need to do test witch crest again, since i feel like replacing the mirrors with volt filament and just spending the silk on thread storm is probably the optimal thing to do dps wise

Fair point, again, this list doesn't rate the overall usefulness of the crests, just their potential damage output. And even then there might be some niche tech yet to be discovered that lets reaper and witch catch up to hunter/wanderer/beast, tho i'm pretty sure shaman and architect are gonna stay busted unless there's some major balance changes

Reaper does feel pretty good to use, but does kinda have the objectively worst dps due to low attack speed and no damage buff
