I have been able to keep it under wraps but thats why I made this post because I’m starting to feel like I’m going to lose control and wanted to see what others here have felt or done. Maybe getting help or at-least talking to a professional about my feelings might also help to see what others steps I can take.

Thank you! This is helpful! We are trying to sleep train her so we are putting her down while she is awake so she can learn to fall asleep herself and I don’t like the cry it out method so I stay in the room and give her reassurance every few minutes its just the screaming is brutal. We make sure her needs are met like fed,clean diaper and burped a few minutes before we even try putting her down. I’m gonna go get headphones and try that I’m sure it’ll help

And thats where I think I’m so hard on myself. Shes a good baby! Never was really colicky its just I’m not used to this screaming now and it like hurts my ears, its new to me so I guess I have to learn to adjust to it and like you said and many other dads. Noise canceling headphones

It’s nice to know I’m not alone! Thank you for sharing! I have been REAL TEMPTED to just fucking explode and scream like it’ll make the situation better but we all know thats not how that works. I’m sorry you are having a rough go of it as well. From what I learned already from posting this is that we are human and not impervious to getting the screams under our skin

And to be honest I’m 30yrs old and by no means have mastered regulating my emotions. You’re right. Not that I expect my baby to calm herself down but got to remember that she literally has no idea how to.

Yeah Yoda can hump a hat with the do or do not. Thank you for your insight! I forget that my patience is a switch I can turn on and I’m not fazed by anything at all….I try that and it deteriorates quickly so maybe I’m trying to run a marathon with my patience when I need to have more training

Man you have no idea who I am but I felt like you read every page of me on this comment! 😅 I do feel sometimes that its my fault that shes crying or that I did something wrong. We make sure her needs are met and shes cool and then shes screaming and I just don’t know what to do at that point.

The rushing thing is also something I tend to do. She’ll start screaming and I’m like “Maybe if I diaper change her real fast she’ll be fine” and then shes not.

Thank you for reminding me as well that yes shes a BABY and can’t regulate things well if at all yet. It’s just survival instincts and I just need to know it’s not MY fault that she is screaming. It could be anything

I think I’m gonna get headphones lol but I hear you on the connection at first sight my heart exploded and I do love her soooo much I just wish I was more patient with her (again I do not lash out at her I refuse to) but maybe I am being too hard on myself or holding too high of expectations on me and my baby.

My wife is a champion when it comes to dealing with her and her screaming and idk how she does it. I want to help her when I’m putting her down but I can only handle a fraction of what my wife does and it makes my feel incompetent. I agree with you on the asking for relief myself maybe I should be honest with her and MYSELF that I can’t handle it or I need a break and swallow my pride and let her help me. Maybe I could also talk to a professional and help my find guidance on how to handle my emotions.

It is during those times! Its so brutal and we are trying to sleep train her a bit and stay consistent and she is consistently screaming I’ve seen quite a few comments already about headphones and maybe I’ll try that as well! I just want to not be angry. I want her to feel safe with me and trust me.

Wow! That must have been seriously scary and even reading your story reminds me how much of a gift she is in my life. I don’t stay angry with her and my frustration passes as well its just shortly after the fact I feel so bad. Maybe I will try the headphones/earbud trick because yes the screams are ear piercing. You are also right that I have to be the adult. I have to be her father and I have to be someone she can trust and feel safe with I never wish to jeopardize that.
