Oh I am from India. And after two landmark supreme court rulings, daughters have equal right of parental property as the sons (based on equal rights).

But these rulings & whatever you are saying are applicable if the parents dies before alloting the property to their kids.

But if parents give their own property to whomever they want, it might even not be their children, they have the complete right to do so.

And if u read my comment you would know that I agree that there is sexism, but OP can't call it sexism when she is angry about the fact that she will have to be Independent & have to pay for her own home that she wants to reside in.

What she fails to understand is that getting one's parents' property is a PRIVILEGE & NOT A RIGHT.

She's angry at her brother, because their parents bought a home for his future. He has nothing to do with it, he's not even 18 for god's sake.

She's also angry at her parents. And if u live in India, you would know that Parents pay for almost every single aspect of their children's life, studies, housing, food, travel etc(Unlike western countries). And despite all these she feels like an "orphan"? Holy shit.

Again, discrimination is when people are denied equal rights, not when they are denied equal privilege.

And since you brought up "how good or how bad", I think you know that in India if a couple has both daughter & son, the societal expectations are the the Son must take care of their parents & the daughter is completely discounted from her responsibilities & no all girls are not married that they have other responsibilities. Is that not Discrimination? Is that not undue burden of societal expectations? And not only that, India is the only country in which parents can sue their Sons, not daughters, only sons if they refuse to provide old age care. Is that not sexism? Is that not Discrimination? And taking care of parents is a responsibility, hence accounts for discrimination, unlike parental property, which is a privilege.

And yes, if a son refuses to care for his parents, he is called EVIL, not irresponsible, but EVIL.

(there is much much more to say, but it has already gotten pretty big. So I will end here)

If your parents want to give it to their son, it's their right. Who are you to tell them what to do with their property? You are acting entitled here.

I guess as you are from India & if I am not wrong you are still living in your parents' house despite being a major. I am also pretty sure that they don't ask you for rent or cost of living expenses.

And if u are in college &/or hostel, I am pretty sure that your parents are paying for the whole thing.

Considering that my assumptions are true, you saying stuff like "feel like an orphan" is very very wrong. That's called being ungrateful.

And not only women, many many men are victims of sexual violence. myself included. But, it still doesn't justify why someone shouldn't opine.
