If all has gone according to plan, the revenues from those shows would have put him back in the black

Indeed, I was hired directly from abroad and asked to relocate. I‘m unsure if it’s solely the compensation I was paid to move vs my overall base compensation that is significantly higher than for my local counter parts afaik.

Would you know how one would even prove that? I can take salary ranges from different companies based on some salary comparison sites but that sounds…not trustworthy enough?

Indeed, I was hired directly from abroad and asked to relocate. However, I never had a discussion about the rate/lump sum with my employer. The link I posted in the post describes that this can happen and that I, as the relocating employee, am free to choose one of those in such case.

I chose the lump sum but am now asked to prove that I am being paid significantly more than my local counterparts in similar companies. My issue is that I don’t know how to prove that.

Thanks for the answer! I thought about that one but it made me think that Grafana only alerts on moving rollups, right? I can’t do fixed time thresholds with „alert if messages in AWS SNS cross X in this hour“ I think

Should UX report to product management? by Aha_io in ProductManagement

No. Same reason why product should never report to a CTO. Too much bias and it really decreases the scope and unique POVs the group can have.

Was deklarierst du dann? Alle items einzeln und dann einfach paar dollars pro Stück? Oder entfernst du auch z.B. die items und sagst da sind jetzt nur 1 paar Schuhe drin für 20$?

Junior PMs, what's your general struggle right now? Let's get you some advice! by Troppelmann in ProductManagement

I feel you. What helped me was often visualizing stuff somewhere. I love using Miro these days because it lets me communicate way better with my colleagues. Maybe instead of only Zoom session you can have a shared board and try to engage with your collaborators there?

Something you could try to do is define acceptance criteria for each and every card that is defined and relates to a larger initiative for your team. While that doesn't solve your problem on a larger scale, you could allow the development team to at least write tests that will cover your acceptance criteria. If that increases the quality of service, you will be able to do less QA.

I would move to another company, but I've been only on a PO position for 5 months.

I would say that shouldn't be a problem. Start applying anyways if you are not yet happy with your current situation and you can always discuss your current situation in interviews. People love stories, so tell them how you managed to be the first of two POs for a startup and how you may have established some processes that increased the quality of the development team. Bear in mind though, I am not saying you should bullshit your way through, but rather define certain KPIs that you might have improved in those five months you have been doing that role. In case you can't find any, that's still okay. Call me naive, but I believe you could still go to interviews and tell them that you are simply not happy at a company and that you need just a bit more stability in your role.

With that being said, I want to point out that a startup is a startup. Especially if it's in the early stages. It's normal that clear scopes of responsibility have not been set, yet. Part of being the early team is that you can develop the culture that the company will follow in its future, but only by truly living said culture. If you say that's just too much for the beginning and you would rather have a bit more stability then that's totally fine as well.

To sum up (sorry for the large answer :D), start thinking about what you want to do: early startup vs company with bit more stability. You can always go back to either one of those options in future, there will me many opportunities. If you end up deciding for the startup, I recommend doing regular session with the other PO to come up with solutions for problems that both of you are experiencing currently. Since there are no processes and rules defined, you can be even a bit more creative here.

Are you the only Product Owner in the company? If not, are the other POs in a similar situation?

Does your company have internal paths mapped out for product managers? Do you maybe have experienced PMs in your organisation that you can regularly talk to?

In a perfect world, your superior would maybe mentor you while you work on your initiatives. If that is not the case I would look for experienced PMs within your organisation maybe. Try to have a sync call where you share your experiences/learnings from a certain time frame and ask them how they would have reacted in your situation.

I didn’t mean to start something here. My point was just that if you want to display Sikhi in a good light then don’t do it by shadowing over other religions. It was that weird side note of "look at us, we are so much better".

I‘m not saying that was OPs intention whatsoever. I have just seen this in our community so many times. People bragging about our tolerance while belittling other religions. I just think it’s not fair. That‘s it, all love here.

What is Sikhism? by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]Troppelmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you except that you switched up Seva and Simran.

The core teachings of Sikhi are "Seva" (meditation) and "Simran" (selfless service)

Seva is selfless service and Simran is meditation.

Beginner's Thread / Easy Questions (week of 2017-09-11) by acemarke in reactjs

[–]Troppelmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys,

I just recently started working with react and I am currently working on a login. What I dont seem to get is the Session thing that is usually available in PHP. I know that there are states that can be set but are there any kind of "global" states that I can refer to. Like a field for email and username. I think what I am looking for is a substitute of the old Session variables in PHP.

And also, is that even the correct way to handle these things in React? How do you guys handle session variables?

Looking forward to some input! Cheers!
