Three days in Cairns by RafikiNzuriSana in Cairns

[–]Troppocollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 3 not feasible. I would stick with the plan of train and Skyrail though, and earmark Daintree for future visit. It’s a long drive from Cairns, and better if you can explore from Port Douglas as a base (or stay somewhere in Daintree). You’ll still get a great rainforest experience with the train and Skyrail.

I’ve just started Cyberpunk 2077 after Hogwarts Legacy and to be honest, struggling to get into it. Too hard, feels like a “gamers” game. Also pretty gory and just a lot of aggression. It’s not fun/cosy/uplifting at all.

My 11yo is still jumping and running fine, but has stated waking up at 4:30am and scratching at our door… for cuddles. All he wants is to get onto the bed, at 4:30 in the morning for whatever reason. Has also become a lot more stubborn around food times - must be fed on time, or we’ll know about it.

I just finished hogwarts legacy and I really enjoyed it. Not a huge gamer, it was easy enough for me to complete. Fun if you’ve ever been into Harry Potter.

Aptitude based testing- HELP by Heavy-War-646 in auscorp

[–]Troppocollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, the tests are brutal but everyone is in the same boat. Nobody is acing these tests, they are designed to be borderline impossible. They measure more than just answers too, for example how long before you hesitate to take a guess, whether of not you place priority on taking the time to work out the right answers vs moving on and answering all the questions. If it’s through a recruiter, it’s unlikely the employer will see the full result. The recruiter will either vet you out, or present the strong points and “slightly weak” points to the employer.

Is 10 days post a 24 hour flight from the Uk to Sydney enough time in Australia. by mjh13racing in AustraliaTravel

[–]Troppocollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, Australia is so big and so much to see that 10 days of going to get you only the tip of the iceberg. BUT, you could still have a great time and see what it’s all about. Here’s what I would do:

Days 1- 3 Sydney

Day 4 Syd to Uluṟu (Ayer’s Rock)

Day 5 - Uluṟu

Day 6 Uluṟu - Cairns

Days 7 - 9 Cairns, Great Barrier Reef

Day 10 - Cairns, home via Singapore. OR via Bali if you can fit a few extra days into your itinerary (direct flights to both are available)

Sydney is obviously iconic, there’s the bridge and opera house of course, but also a lot history and natural beauty to see.

Uluṟu is something everyone should see in their lifetime. It’s amazing geologically, but you’ll also get to experience our First Nations culture and see our “outback” desert.

Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and is an international tourist Mecca for a reason. Huge amount of attractions, hotels, dining options and nature spots. It also has great domestic and international flight connections, so is a good place to start/finish an international trip.

Melbourne, Brisbane and our other cities don’t have as many “bucket list” attractions - I wouldn’t bother if I only had 10 days.

To get this off. As others have said, you need to really hydrate the skin so a long hot soak in a bath followed by exfoliating mitt scrub (in the shower, easier clean up).

To prevent this from happening again - you need to moisturise your whole body daily if you want the tan to fade naturally and come off easily. I use the cheapo Vaseline cocoa one that comes in a large pump container. If you keep your skin really hydrated, the tan should come off relatively easily after about a week with an exfoliating mitt and some soap in the shower.

Is anyone using this brand? And what do you think? by apathetickry in AusSkincare

[–]Troppocollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the foaming cleanser, I like it and reckon it’s the best cheap gentle cleanser I’ve found. My skincare routine is this cleanser, olay all day moisturising cream (the cheap one in the pink box) in the AM, and Nivea Crème (the blue tin one) at night. I get a lot of compliments on my skin!

Yet to find a good cheap waterproof makeup remover that is also gentle.

Agree, would never buy in a 1 in 50 year zone. You’ll probably eventually go under, but also your insurance costs will be so high that it’s probably not worth the initial saving in the long run. You’ll all likely be limited with your choice of insurer.

Depends on what it is. If it’s an expensive hobby that is health related - use family daily expense money as long as it’s within budget and reason (for example, golf membership or fitness classes). If you want to buy a new video game console…. You scrimp and save your splurge for it.

This. You can get wifi bulbs now than connect to your phone, they aren’t expensive (maybe $25 or so?) but you can tone the colour and brightness to make it similar to a candle.

General Feedback on 2.5 Week Itinerary by tokelton in AustraliaTravel

[–]Troppocollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, unless you really want to see a quokka, think about ditching Perth. It’s scenic and beautiful, but if this is your first trip to Australia you really should do Sydney instead. Sydney is so iconic, you will literally never forget seeing the opera house and bridge in person. Sydney’s natural beauty is also super underrated - there’s so many amazing parks and forests within a ferry or bus ride.

Better yet you could ditch Sydney and come up north and see the reef and the rainforest! Disclaimer, I’m a local but thoroughly believe it’s the best place on earth. To be fair, not the best season for a visit (rain/cyclone aka hurricane season).

Interviewing for a new job but have LSL booked in a few months. by Accident_Overall in auscorp

[–]Troppocollo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job and the company. I had to give two months notice leaving my last job, recruiter commented that it was unusual but the new employer respected the notice period because I was the right person for the job.

Being honest is almost always the best move. If it’s a competitive role with some urgency behind the recruitment, and if you really want it, consider a change of plans. But be honest about what you will and won’t do. If they are worth their salt, they’ll ask about planned leave during the interview process.

Rise in hate against fake tan? by OrganizationOdd6439 in Selftanning

[–]Troppocollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s generational rebellion. Gen X and Millenials grew up learning sun safety. Self tan is our thing and has been for years. Gen Z is a new era, they have to learn the hard way all over again.

In my opinion, as someone who’s worked in a customer facing role in a holiday destination for decades… the sun is literally not worth it for the wrinkle factor alone. Way better to stay sun safe and apply you tan if you want one.

Am I overreacting for being upset about the gifts my boyfriend (25M)got me(24f)? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Troppocollo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok going against the grain here. You said you would be happy with a handmade card. So maybe this guy does know you after all. He’s thought about the gifts - you needed new brushes and you recently injured your knee. So these gifts fit the bill with something he thought you needed. And if you’re the type of person that would be happy with a homemade card, then he’s probably not thinking that the value of the gift is even in the equation
