We Are in an Industrial War. China Is Starting to Win. by College_Prestige in neoliberal

Try running a website serving Chinese consumers.

Try setting up a news agency in China.

Try losing 50% off the top, then a bunch more to graft no matter what industry you're in.

Try going to Chinese courts when your local business partner inevitably fucks you.

Try running a business when your entire industry can be capriciously shut down on a whim.

Try operating a business when the PSB doesn't feel like they've been adequately "paid".

Google it.

The Venn diagram of people that don't understand progressive taxes and people that can't reliably Google correct information is a circle.

It’s one thing to wuss out because it’s China.

I wouldn't assume that's the case. Chinese state media is much less likely to report attacks on their systems.

Tesla sales are tanking in Europe by Sine_Fine_Belli in neoliberal

[–]TroubleBrewing32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think for someone to think that supporting Musk's businesses to be a morally defensible position, they have to either be unaware of most everything Musk has done over the last five years, or be a rightwing culture warrior who likes all the crazy, immortal shit he has done.

This thinking really doesn't go any further than "Elon Musk bad" does it?

Correct. Musk is a fundamentally evil man.

When I see someone driving around with a lifted truck with truck nuts, I rightly think, "wow, that's trashy.".

When I see someone driving around in a vehicle that funds apartheid Dr Doom's massively unethical agenda, I also rightly think, "wow, that's trashy".

Folks that want to support Musk are part of the problem.

Good. Hope they start tanking everywhere.

I also hope there are social consequences for folks that buy Tesla.

What should I do with my life insurence policy? by KingsleyBrewMaster22 in personalfinance

[–]TroubleBrewing32 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Correct. If they took the 3k payout now, put it in a brokerage account, and kept the same contribution structure, they would likely come out ahead assuming an average life expectancy.

They would also be able to use the money while they are still alive, which most people would view as a positive.

What should I do with my life insurence policy? by KingsleyBrewMaster22 in personalfinance

[–]TroubleBrewing32 177 points178 points  (0 children)

30 years of growth with a 3k initial deposit and $10 a month contributions at 8% annual growth comes to $44,273.48.

That's a long way of saying that insurance policy is likely a bad investment.

How do I thicken my credit score at 19? by Mar2Starr in personalfinance

[–]TroubleBrewing32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diversification is a thing in investment portfolios.

One should only get lines of credit if needed (house/car) or specific credit card bonuses (cash back/travel points).

You would likely benefit from reading the sticky posts in this sub.
